Design and characterization of SiON integrated optics components for optical coherence tomography [PDF]
Optical coherence tomography (OCT) is a technique for high resolution imaging of biological tissues with a depth range of a few millimeters. OCT is based on interferometry to enable depth ranging.

Protein pyrophosphorylation by inositol pyrophosphates — detection, function, and regulation
Protein pyrophosphorylation is an unusual signaling mechanism that was discovered two decades ago. It can be driven by inositol pyrophosphate messengers and influences various cellular processes. Herein, we summarize the research progress and challenges of this field, covering pathways found to be regulated by this posttranslational modification as ...

Design Study of a Large-Angle Optical Scanning System for MEMS LIDAR
MEMS-based LIDAR has the advantages of fast-scanning, simple structure, small volume, and light weight, which make it a hot topic for 3D imaging. In order to overcome the limited scanning angle of the current MEMS mirrors, a large angle MEMS-based ...

This study reveals how the mitochondrial protein Slm35 is regulated in Saccharomyces cerevisiae. The authors identify stress‐responsive DNA elements and two upstream open reading frames (uORFs) in the 5′ untranslated region of SLM35. One uORF restricts translation, and its mutation increases Slm35 protein levels and mitophagy.

An Analysis and Optimization of Distortion Effect Caused by Pupil Decentering in Optical Gun Scope
During the use of optical gun scopes, slight movements between the human eye and the instrument can cause the pupil to offset from the optical axis, resulting in a dynamic distortion effect. This affects the accuracy and stability of aiming. Based on the

Sequence determinants of RNA G‐quadruplex unfolding by Arg‐rich regions
We show that Arg‐rich peptides selectively unfold RNA G‐quadruplexes, but not RNA stem‐loops or DNA/RNA duplexes. This length‐dependent activity is inhibited by acidic residues and is conserved among SR and SR‐related proteins (SRSF1, SRSF3, SRSF9, U1‐70K, and U2AF1).
