PARP inhibitors elicit distinct transcriptional programs in homologous recombination competent castration‐resistant prostate cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
PARP inhibitors are used to treat a small subset of prostate cancer patients. These studies reveal that PARP1 activity and expression are different between European American and African American prostate cancer tissue samples. Additionally, different PARP inhibitors cause unique and overlapping transcriptional changes, notably, p53 pathway upregulation.

Monocular 3D Micro-PIV System Using Computational Imaging

open access: yesIEEE Photonics Journal
A three-dimensional (3D) particle image velocimetry (PIV) system typically consists of multiple cameras. However, micro-PIV systems for measuring microscale velocity fields lack sufficient space to accommodate them. In this work we propose an alternative

Bridging the gap: Multi‐stakeholder perspectives of molecular diagnostics in oncology

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Although molecular diagnostics is transforming cancer care, implementing novel technologies remains challenging. This study identifies unmet needs and technology requirements through a two‐step stakeholder involvement. Liquid biopsies for monitoring applications and predictive biomarker testing emerge as key unmet needs. Technology requirements vary by

Ultra-Wide-Field Long-Wave Infrared System via Hybrid Refractive–Reflective Structure and Field of View Stitching

open access: yesPhotonics
To address the application demands of ultra-wide-field optical systems, we developed a compact, long-infrared waveband optical system using a field-of-view (FoV) stitching method.

Modeling hepatic fibrosis in TP53 knockout iPSC‐derived human liver organoids

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This study developed iPSC‐derived human liver organoids with TP53 gene knockout to model human liver fibrosis. These organoids showed elevated myofibroblast activation, early disease markers, and advanced fibrotic hallmarks. The use of profibrotic differentiation medium further amplified the fibrotic signature seen in the organoids.

A novel dual-path high-throughput acousto-optic tunable filter imaging spectropolarimeter

open access: yesJournal of Spectral Imaging, 2020
It is highly demanding to identify healthy and non-healthy species in a heterogeneous environment such as human tissues. In such a case, one identifier, such as a spectral fingerprint, might be inadequate. Therefore, additional identification is required,

Linear Rotary Optical Delay Lines

open access: yes, 2014
I present several classes of analytical and semi-analytical solutions for the design of high-speed rotary optical delay lines that use a combination of stationary and rotating curvilinear reflectors.

Screening for lung cancer: A systematic review of overdiagnosis and its implications

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Low‐dose computed tomography (CT) screening for lung cancer may increase overdiagnosis compared to no screening, though the risk is likely low versus chest X‐ray. Our review of 8 trials (84 660 participants) shows added costs. Further research with strict adherence to modern nodule management strategies may help determine the extent to which ...
