Optical feedback in photomultipliers

Measurement Techniques, 1968
The measurements showed that, along with ordinary optical feedback, there occurs an optical feedback caused by ionic feedback; the contribution of the latter, however, to the overall background level is extremely small.

Optical feedback tweezers

Optical Trapping and Optical Micromanipulation XV, 2018
Feedback traps can manipulate particles arbitrarily. In a feedback trap, a position detector detects the particle’s position, a computer calculates the necessary force to be applied based on the position in the “virtual potential,” which is applied to the particle. The process is repeated with as fast a loop rate as practical.

Intracavity feedback optical trapping

Il Nuovo Cimento C, 2022
Several research groups have integrated feedback control with optical trapping to improve performance, e.g., for force or position control. Among the different proposed approaches, using the feedback when trapping inside a laser cavity stands out for several reasons, namely, trapping can occur at lower optical intensities, reducing photodamage, and ...

Loss-coupled distributed-feedback lasers with amplified optical feedback for optical microwave generation

Optics Letters, 2004
Multisection semiconductor lasers for optical microwave generation have been fabricated that consist of a loss-coupled distributed feedback (LC-DFB), a phase control, and an amplifier section. High-frequency self-pulsations are generated according to the concept of a single-mode laser with short optical feedback.

Impulse response of optical systems with feedback

Journal of Optics, 1982
Studies, experimentally, the effect of feedback on the impulse response of coherent space and frequency-truncating systems. Agreement between theoretical predictions and experimental results was found.

Usability of optically simulated haptic feedback

International Journal of Human-Computer Studies, 2008
In this contribution a method will be described to optically simulate haptic feedback without resorting to mechanical force feedback devices. This method exploits the domination of the visual over the haptic modality. The perception of haptic feedback, usually generated by force feedback devices, was simulated by tiny displacements on the cursor ...

Instabilities and Chaos in TV-optical feedback

Topical Meeting on Optical Bistability, 1983
The simplest TV-optical feedback experiment is performed by a TV-camera looking onto its own monitor. If we introduce some signal processing into the system as convolutions, image subtraction, non1inearites, etc., there are many applications: in a first approximation we assumed linear systems and we obtained systems for image restoration, iterative ...

Laser feedback metrology of optical systems

Applied Optics, 1989
A simple interferometric metrology instrument based on the effect of weak optical feedback on the power output of laser diodes is described. Laboratory demonstrations of the principle applied to the analysis of wavefront aberrations in optical systems is reported.

Effects of optical feedback in a birefringence-Zeeman dual frequency laser at high optical feedback levels

Applied Optics, 2007
Optical feedback effects are studied in a birefringence-Zeeman dual frequency laser at high optical feedback levels. The intensity modulation features of the two orthogonally polarized lights are investigated in both isotropic optical feedback (IOF) and polarized optical feedback (POF). In IOF, the intensities of both beams are modulated simultaneously,

Feedback on the Motion of a Single Atom in an Optical Cavity

Physical Review Letters, 2002
We demonstrate feedback on the motion of a single neutral atom trapped in the light field of a high-finesse cavity. Information on the atomic motion is obtained from the transmittance of the cavity. This is used to implement a feedback loop in analog electronics that influences the atom's motion by controlling the optical dipole force exerted by the ...
