Optimization of bromelain isolation from honi pineapple crown

open access: yesInternational Journal of Food Studies, 2022
Bromelain is a proteolytic enzyme that can be found in all parts of pineapple plant varieties. Pineapple crown (PC) has higher bromelain activity than other pineapple wastes such as peels and leaves.

Conserved structural motifs in PAS, LOV, and CRY proteins regulate circadian rhythms and are therapeutic targets

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Cryptochrome and PAS/LOV proteins play intricate roles in circadian clocks where they act as both sensors and mediators of protein–protein interactions. Their ubiquitous presence in signaling networks has positioned them as targets for small‐molecule therapeutics. This review provides a structural introduction to these protein families.

An upstream open reading frame regulates expression of the mitochondrial protein Slm35 and mitophagy flux

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
This study reveals how the mitochondrial protein Slm35 is regulated in Saccharomyces cerevisiae. The authors identify stress‐responsive DNA elements and two upstream open reading frames (uORFs) in the 5′ untranslated region of SLM35. One uORF restricts translation, and its mutation increases Slm35 protein levels and mitophagy.

Increasing NaCl Concentration by using Precipitation and Filtration Process at Optimum Temperature

open access: yesTikrit Journal of Engineering Sciences, 2022
The sodium chloride salt or (food salt) is commonly used for consumption in our homes, as well as a raw material in industries and laboratories. The quality of this salt mainly depends on the sodium chloride concentration.

The use of laurylamine hydrocholoride CH3(CH2)11 NH3 –Cl for secondary oil recovery

open access: yesمجلة بغداد للعلوم, 2012
Laurylamine hydrochloride CH3(CH2)11 NH3 – Cl has been chosen from cationic surfactants to produce secondary oil using lab. model shown in fig. (1). The relationship between interfacial tension and (temperature, salinity and solution concentration) have ...

Competing orders and inter-layer tunnelling in cuprate superconductors: A finite temperature Landau theory

open access: yes, 2005
We propose a finite temperature Landau theory that describes competing orders and interlayer tunneling in cuprate superconductors as an important extension to a corresponding theory at zero temperature [Nature {\bf 428}, 53 (2004)], where the ...

In situ molecular organization and heterogeneity of the Legionella Dot/Icm T4SS

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We present a nearly complete in situ model of the Legionella Dot/Icm type IV secretion system, revealing its central secretion channel and identifying new components. Using cryo‐electron tomography with AI‐based modeling, our work highlights the structure, variability, and mechanism of this complex nanomachine, advancing understanding of bacterial ...

Extended temperature optimum of photosynthetic reaction centers in Rhodobacterales

open access: yesPhotosynthetica, 2019
Temperature is one of the most important physical factors affecting microbial and biochemical processes. We investigated the performance of photosynthetic apparatus of marine photoheterotrophic bacterium Dinoroseobacter shibae under various temperatures.

Optimum Temperatures for Germination of Winterfat [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Range Management, 1972
Previous literature has indicated that the temperature requirements for germination of winterfat (Eurotia Zanata (Pursh) Moq.) have been only partly resolved (Hilton, 1941; Springfield, 1968a; U. S. Forest Service, 1948; Workman and West, 1967). To learn more about the effects of temperature on the germination of winterfat, a series of tests were ...
