From Oral Literature to Technauriture: What’s in a Name? [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
Oral traditions and oral literature have long contributed to human communication, yet the advent of arguably the most influential technology—the written word—altered the course of creative ability.

Promotion of oral fluid methods for evaluation and surveillance of the measles immunization programme in Ethiopia [PDF]

open access: yes
This work aims to demonstrate the use of oral-fluid methods in evaluating the effectiveness of a vaccination programme at the individual (vaccine conversion) and population levels (herd immunity and virus transmission and origin) within a developing ...

Hollow Cu2O Nanozymes Enhance Probiotic Therapy for Colitis via Redox Homeostasis and TXNIP/NLRP3 Inflammasome Inhibition

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Hollow cuprous oxide (H‐Cu2O) nanozymes feature enlarged catalytic surfaces for superior reactive oxygen species (ROS) scavenging. By efficiently neutralizing mucosal ROS, H‐Cu2O directly suppresses the TXNIP/NLRP3 inflammasome axis and restores intestinal epithelial barrier integrity.

Disrupting Helicobacter pylori Iron Homeostasis With Bismuth Nanodrug‐Mediated Nutritional Trap for Targeted Gastric Infection Therapy

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
A “nutritional trap” strategy centered on disrupting bacterial iron homeostasis is proposed. The synthesized Bi‐TP@FU (TBF) can target Helicobacter pylori, interfere with the bacterial iron uptake and utilization processes to disrupt its iron homeostasis, induce bacterial death, and meanwhile preserve the balance of the intestinal flora.

Targeted Degradation of Picornaviral 3C Protease via PROTACs Confers High Barrier to Viral Resistance and Broad‐Spectrum Antiviral Activity

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This study reports D34 as the first PROTAC degrader that targets the 3C protease of picornaviruses. D34 effectively degrades EV71 3C protease via the ubiquitin‐proteasome pathway. More importantly, D34 exhibits a high resistance barrier and shows broad‐spectrum antiviral activity against multiple picornaviruses, highlighting its potential as a novel ...

Intra-epithelial vaccination with COPV L1 DNA by particle-mediated DNA delivery protects against mucosal challenge with infectious COPV in beagle dogs. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2001
Protection against viral challenge with canine oral papillomavirus (COPV) was achieved by immunisation via particle-mediated DNA delivery (PMDD) of a plasmid encoding the COPV L1 gene to cutaneous and oral mucosal sites in beagle dogs.

Expression of p21WAF1/CIP1 is unrelated to p53 tumour suppressor gene status in oral squamous cell carcinomas

open access: yes, 1998
The p53 tumour suppressor gene is frequently mutated in oral squamous cell carcinomas. However, the downstream mechanism of p53 during oral carcinogenesis is not fully understood.

Reversing Temozolomide Resistance in Glioblastoma Based on Cuproptosis‐Mediated Positive Feedback Loop

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
To effectively reverse TMZ resistance, this work proposes a cuproptosis‐mediated positive feedback loop that integrates mitochondrial dysfunction, ATP depletion, AMPK‐p53 signaling, and glycolytic inhibition, ultimately amplifying cell death. This cuproptosis‐mediated feedback loop simultaneously disrupts multiple resistance pathways in GBM, including ...

Who invented vaccination? [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
Edward Jenner, whose ‘Inquiry’ (1798)1 was the first published report of vaccination against smallpox, is widely seen as the inventor of vaccination. However, other individuals could lay claim to this title, notably his contemporaries, Benjamin Jesty and

Identifying a Csmd3+ Microglial Subpopulation that Drives Cold‐to‐Hot Transition and Immune‐Cure in Glioblastoma

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
The study establishes an immune‐cure (ICu) mouse model based on a TMEMed G422TN‐GBM system that faithfully recapitulates human TMEMed GBM. scRNA‐seq analysis reveals a Csmd3+ microglial subset with innate immune memory (IIM) potential that potently suppresses GBM growth, drives a TME cold‐to‐hot transition, and induces 100% ICu in long‐term survival ...
