Microbial Functional Genes Help Explain Soil Carbon Sensitivity to Temperature Across Global Biomes

Temperature‐gradient incubations across 196 natural ecosystems combined with metagenomic data reveal microbial functional traits associated with soil Q10. These traits converge into complementary metabolic strategies involving carbon acquisition, carbon assimilation, and cellular maintenance and stress responses.
