Dual targeting of RET and SRC synergizes in RET fusion‐positive cancer cells

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Despite the strong activity of selective RET tyrosine kinase inhibitors (TKIs), resistance of RET fusion‐positive (RET+) lung cancer and thyroid cancer frequently occurs and is mainly driven by RET‐independent bypass mechanisms. Son et al. show that SRC TKIs significantly inhibit PAK and AKT survival signaling and enhance the efficacy of RET TKIs in ...

Steroid Production and Follicular Development of Neonatal Mouse Ovary during in vitro Culture [PDF]

open access: yesInternational Journal of Fertility and Sterility, 2013
Background: The aim of this study was to investigate follicular growth and steroid production in neonatal mouse ovary during in vitro culture. Materials and Methods: In this experimental study, 7-day-old mouse whole ovaries were cultured in α-MEM ...

LINC01116, a hypoxia‐lncRNA marker of pathological lymphangiogenesis and poor prognosis in lung adenocarcinoma

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
The LINC01116 long noncoding RNA is induced by hypoxia and associated with poor prognosis and high recurrence rates in two cohorts of lung adenocarcinoma patients. Here, we demonstrate that besides its expression in cancer cells, LINC01116 is markedly expressed in lymphatic endothelial cells of the tumor stroma in which it participates in hypoxia ...

Papain Injection Creates a Nucleotomy-like Cavity for Testing Gels in Intervertebral Discs

open access: yesGels
Biomaterials, such as hydrogels, have an increasingly important role in the development of regenerative approaches for the intervertebral disc. Since animal models usually resist biomaterial injection due to high intradiscal pressure, preclinical testing

Three-dimensional human skin models to understand <i>Staphylococcus aureus </i> skin colonization and infection

open access: yesFrontiers in Immunology, 2014
Staphylococcus aureus is both a major bacterial pathogen as well as a common member of the human skin microbiota. Due to its widespread prevalence as an asymptomatic skin colonizer and its importance as a source of skin and soft tissue infections, an ...

Tissue culture of oil palm : finding the balance between mass propagation and somaclonal variation [PDF]

open access: yes, 2019
The oil palm (Elaeis guineensis Jacq.) is typically propagated in vitro by indirect somatic embryogenesis, a process in which somatic cells of an explant of choice are, via an intermediate phase of callus growth, induced to differentiate into somatic ...

PARP inhibition and pharmacological ascorbate demonstrate synergy in castration‐resistant prostate cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Pharmacologic ascorbate (vitamin C) increases ROS, disrupts cellular metabolism, and induces DNA damage in CRPC cells. These effects sensitize tumors to PARP inhibition, producing synergistic growth suppression with olaparib in vitro and significantly delayed tumor progression in vivo. Pyruvate rescue confirms ROS‐dependent activity.

Observation of Dynamic Cellular Migration of the Medial Edge Epithelium of the Palatal Shelf in vitro

open access: yesFrontiers in Physiology, 2019
Palatal fusion is a critical step during palatogenesis. In this fusing interface, the epithelial sheets need to be removed in order to achieve mesenchymal continuity.
