Rat Organic Anion Transporter 3 and Organic Anion Transporting Polypeptide 1 Mediate Perfluorooctanoic Acid Transport

open access: yesJOURNAL OF HEALTH SCIENCE, 2007
The mechanism by which perfluorooctanoic acid (PFOA) is transported in the kidney was studied in rats. We hypothesized that some transporters that are expressed in the basolateral and/or brush border membrane of proximal tubular cells mediate the transport of PFOA.

Role of organic anion transporter 1 (OAT1) in cephaloridine (CER)-induced nephrotoxicity [PDF]

open access: yesKidney International, 1999
Role of organic anion transporter 1 (OAT1) in cephaloridine (CER)-induced nephrotoxicity.Cephaloridine (CER) has been used to elucidate the mechanisms of cephalosporin antibiotic-induced nephrotoxicity. Organic anion transporters have been thought to mediate CER uptake by the proximal tubule.

Molecular mechanistic insight into the anti-hyperuricemic effect of Eucommia ulmoides in mice and rats

open access: yesPharmaceutical Biology, 2019
Context: Eucommia ulmoides Oliver (Eucommiaceae) has various medicinal properties. Our previous studies revealed that Eucommia ulmoides has a protective effect on hyperuricaemia.

The role of Nedd4-1 WW domains in binding and regulating human organic anion transporter 1. [PDF]

open access: yesAm J Physiol Renal Physiol, 2016
Human organic anion transporter 1 (hOAT1), expressed at the basolateral membrane of kidney proximal tubule cells, mediates the active renal secretion of a diverse array of clinically important drugs, including anti-human immunodeficiency virus therapeutics, antitumor drugs, antibiotics, antihypertensives, and anti-inflammatories.

Inhibition of the Hepatic Uptake of 99mTc-Tetrofosmin Using an Organic Cation Transporter Blocker

open access: yesPharmaceutics, 2021
The accumulation of high levels of 99mTc-tetrofosmin (99mTc-TF) in the hepatobiliary system can lead to imaging artifacts and interference with diagnosis.

SLC2A9 is a high-capacity urate transporter in humans [PDF]

open access: yes, 2008
Background Serum uric acid levels in humans are influenced by diet, cellular breakdown, and renal elimination, and correlate with blood pressure, metabolic syndrome, diabetes, gout, and cardiovascular disease. Recent genome-wide association scans have

Involvement of Organic Anion Transporters in the Pharmacokinetics and Drug Interaction of Rosmarinic Acid

open access: yesPharmaceutics, 2021
We investigated the involvement of drug transporters in the pharmacokinetics of rosmarinic acid in rats as well as the transporter-mediated drug interaction potential of rosmarinic acid in HEK293 cells overexpressing clinically important solute carrier ...

Immunohistochemical studies of organic anion transporters and urate transporter 1 expression in human salivary gland [PDF]

open access: yesActa Odontologica Scandinavica, 2012
Various substances including uric acid, organic acids and drugs are transported by organic anion transporters (OATs) in the kidney. In addition, a member of the OAT family, urate transporter 1 (URAT1), is involved in the reabsorption of uric acid from the renal tubule.
