Importance of the novel organic cation transporter 1 for tyrosine kinase inhibition by saracatinib in rheumatoid arthritis synovial fibroblasts

open access: yesScientific Reports, 2017
Recent therapeutic approaches of rheumatoid arthritis (RA) address the use of small molecules such as tyrosine kinase inhibitors (TKIs). However, the TKIs developed to date have important side effects and/or scarce efficacy in inflammatory diseases such ...

Drug Transporter Expression and Activity in Human Hepatoma HuH-7 Cells

open access: yesPharmaceutics, 2016
Human hepatoma cells may represent a valuable alternative to the use of human hepatocytes for studying hepatic drug transporters, which is now a regulatory issue during drug development. In the present work, we have characterized hepatic drug transporter

Natural Bone‐Derived Ceramic Scaffolds Functionalized with Chitosan‐Gold, Chitosan‐Magnesium, and Chitosan‐Zinc for Enhanced Antibacterial Activity

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
This study reports the development of antibacterial ceramic scaffolds derived from natural bovine bone. The bones were processed through sequential boiling and hydrogen peroxide treatment to remove organic matter, producing porous, mineral‐rich scaffolds.

Enhancing Low‐Temperature Performance of Sodium‐Ion Batteries via Anion‐Solvent Interactions

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
DOL is introduced into electrolytes as a co‐solvent, increasing slat solubility, ion conductivity, and the de‐solvent process, and forming an anion‐rich solvent shell due to its high interaction with anion. With the above virtues, the batteries using this electrolyte exhibit excellent cycling stability at low temperatures. Abstract Sodium‐ion batteries

Transport of biguanides by human organic cation transporter OCT2

open access: yesBiomedicine & Pharmacotherapy, 2013
Biguanides have the severe side effect of lactic acidosis. Although both metformin and phenformin are biguanide derivatives, there is a difference in the frequency at which they induce lactic acidosis. However, the reasons for the difference are not clear.

Dysregulation of the mRNA Expression of Human Renal Drug Transporters by Proinflammatory Cytokines in Primary Human Proximal Tubular Epithelial Cells

open access: yesPharmaceutics
Proinflammatory cytokines, which are elevated during inflammation or infections, can affect drug pharmacokinetics (PK) due to the altered expression or activity of drug transporters and/or metabolizing enzymes.

Fructus Gardenia Extract Ameliorates Oxonate-Induced Hyperuricemia with Renal Dysfunction in Mice by Regulating Organic Ion Transporters and mOIT3

open access: yesMolecules, 2013
The potent anti-hyperuricemia activities of Fructus Gardenia Extract (FGE) have been well reported. The aim of this study was to evaluate the uricosuric and nephro-protective effects of FGE and explore its possible mechanisms of action in oxonate-induced

From Food to Power: Hydrogel Thermoelectrics for Ingestible Electronics

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
We introduce a fully edible thermoelectric–electrochromic platform that harvests heat from food and converts it into a visible color change. N‐type and p‐type hydrogel thermoelectric generators connected in series power anthocyanin‐based electrochromic displays, demonstrating the feasibility of safe, biodegradable, ingestible systems for on‐food ...

Regulated Ion‐Diffusion Hydrogels for Subtle and Multimodal Temperature‐Strain Sensing in Wound Monitoring

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
A soft, dual‐channel hydrogel patch enables simultaneous detection of wound temperature and strain by integrating ion‐diffusion‐mediated thermoelectric and resistive sensing. The conformal design maintains stable performance during motion, capturing subtle inflammatory and mechanical changes for continuous wound monitoring.

Organic Cation Transporters Are Determinants of Oxaliplatin Cytotoxicity [PDF]

open access: yesCancer Research, 2006
Abstract Although the platinum-based anticancer drugs cisplatin, carboplatin, and oxaliplatin have similar DNA-binding properties, only oxaliplatin is active against colorectal tumors. The mechanisms for this tumor specificity of platinum-based compounds are poorly understood but could be related to differences in uptake.
