Mass Spectrometric Analysis of Antigenic Determinant Glycans of Soybean Glycoprotein Gly m Bd 30K

open access: yesMolecules
Glycosylation of many proteins has been revealed to be closely related to food allergy, and screening and structural analysis of related glycoproteins are essential for studies in this important area. Gly m Bd 30K is one of the major allergens that exist

Whole cells of recombinant CYP153A6-E. coli as biocatalyst for regioselective hydroxylation of monoterpenes

open access: yesAMB Express, 2022
Keypoints Different monoterpenes can be regioselectively hydroxylated by CYP153A6 monooxygenase The biotransformation with whole cells is complementary to chemical oxyfunctionalization Fed-batch biotransformations have been applied for preparative ...

Organic Food "Made in China" [PDF]

open access: yes, 2009
China joined the international organic movement comparatively late. Challenged by the scarcity of arable land and a large population to feed, the Chinese Ministry of Agriculture (MoA) for many years has been reluctant to support organic farming that ...

An upstream open reading frame regulates expression of the mitochondrial protein Slm35 and mitophagy flux

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
This study reveals how the mitochondrial protein Slm35 is regulated in Saccharomyces cerevisiae. The authors identify stress‐responsive DNA elements and two upstream open reading frames (uORFs) in the 5′ untranslated region of SLM35. One uORF restricts translation, and its mutation increases Slm35 protein levels and mitophagy.

Do Organic Consumers Oppose Genetically Modified Food Stronger than Others? Results of a Consumer Research in Germany [PDF]

open access: yes, 2007
The majority of consumers, in particular European consumers oppose genetic modifi-cation of food. Although consumers oppose strongly genetic modification of food, genetically modified food production increases world wide.

The (Glg)ABCs of cyanobacteria: modelling of glycogen synthesis and functional divergence of glycogen synthases in Synechocystis sp. PCC 6803

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We reconstituted Synechocystis glycogen synthesis in vitro from purified enzymes and showed that two GlgA isoenzymes produce glycogen with different architectures: GlgA1 yields denser, highly branched glycogen, whereas GlgA2 synthesizes longer, less‐branched chains.

Data covering soil management practices and farm characteristics on Swiss arable farms

open access: yesScientific Data
Soil health is the cornerstone of sustainable agriculture, but studies have shown that agricultural soils are degrading due to inadequate soil management practice adoption. To understand the status quo, we surveyed 2,728 Swiss arable farms in 2024.

Spent brewer's yeast extracts as a new component of functional food

open access: yesCzech Journal of Food Sciences, 2016
The use of yeast extracts as a natural and valuable additive ingredient intended for the production of functional food and dietary supplements were demonstrated.

Quality analysis of critical control points within the whole food chain and their impact on food quality, safety and health (QACCP) [PDF]

open access: yes, 2010
The overall objective of the project was to optimise organic production and processing in order to improve food quality and increase health promoting aspects in consumer products.
