Hexathienocoronenes: Synthesis and Self-Organization [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of the American Chemical Society, 2012
Here we report hexathienocoronenes (HTCs), fully thiophene-annelated coronenes in which six double bonds in the periphery are thieno-fused. The derivatives tetrasubstituted with hexyl and dodecyl chains show a phase formation that strongly depends on the chain length.

Clinical commissioning of an adaptive radiotherapy platform: Results and recommendations

open access: yesJournal of Applied Clinical Medical Physics, Volume 23, Issue 12, December 2022., 2022
Abstract Online adaptive radiotherapy platforms present a unique challenge for commissioning as guidance is lacking and specialized adaptive equipment, such as deformable phantoms, are rare. We designed a novel adaptive commissioning process consisting of end‐to‐end tests using standard clinical resources.

The immunological interface: dendritic cells as key regulators in metabolic dysfunction‐associated steatotic liver disease

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Metabolic dysfunction‐associated steatotic liver disease (MASLD) affects nearly one‐third of the global population and poses a significant risk of progression to cirrhosis or liver cancer. Here, we discuss the roles of hepatic dendritic cell subtypes in MASLD, highlighting their distinct contributions to disease initiation and progression, and their ...

Isoxazolyl-Derived 1,4-Dihydroazolo[5,1-c][1,2,4]Triazines: Synthesis and Photochemical Properties

open access: yesMolecules, 2023
New fluorescent dyes containing an assembled 1,4-dihydroazolo[5,1-c][1,2,4]triazine (DAT) core and an isoxazole ring were synthesized through a reaction between diazopyrazole or diazoimidazoles and isoxazolyl-derived enamines in mild conditions.

Using carbon dioxide as a building block in organic synthesis

open access: yesNature Communications, 2015
Carbon dioxide is an abundant and easily available source of carbon, produced as a waste product in large quantities worldwide. Here, the authors review recent work on activating and reacting carbon dioxide for use as a building block in organic ...

Conjugated Ynones in Organic Synthesis [PDF]

open access: yesChemical Reviews, 2019
This review article will consider the preparation and application of ynones in synthetic organic chemistry. Concerning the preparation of these bifunctional compounds, several methodologies starting from propargyl alcohols, acyl derivatives, both by using alkynylmetal reagents or by transition metal (mainly palladium and copper) catalyzed alkynylations,

A histidine‐rich extension of the mitochondrial F0 subunit ATP6 from the ice worm Mesenchytraeus solifugus increases ATP synthase activity in bacteria

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
The glacier ice worm Mesenchytraeus solifugus survives year‐round at 0 °C. Its ATP6 subunit, which forms a regulatory component of the proton pore in mitochondrial ATP synthase, has a carboxy‐terminal extension not found in any other organism examined to date. Here, we show that fusion of this extension to the homologous AtpB protein in E. coli results

Photoinduced 1,2,3,4-tetrahydropyridine ring conversions

open access: yesBeilstein Journal of Organic Chemistry, 2015
Stable heterocyclic hydroperoxide can be easily prepared as a product of fast oxidation of a 1,2,3,4-tetrahydropyridine by 3O2 if the solution is exposed to sunlight.

Styrylpyridinium Derivatives for Fluorescent Cell Imaging

open access: yesPharmaceuticals, 2023
A set of styrylpyridinium (SP) compounds was synthesised in order to study their spectroscopic and cell labelling properties. The compounds comprised different electron donating parts (julolidine, p-dimethylaminophenyl, p-methoxyphenyl, 3,4,5 ...

Lead halide perovskites for photocatalytic organic synthesis

open access: yesNature Communications, 2019
Nature is capable of storing solar energy in chemical bonds via photosynthesis through a series of C–C, C–O and C–N bond-forming reactions starting from CO2 and light. Direct capture of solar energy for organic synthesis is a promising approach. Lead (Pb)
