Organoselenium Compounds in Cancer Chemoprevention
Mini-Reviews in Medicinal Chemistry, 2008Selenium is an important trace element involved in different physiological functions of human body. Knowledge of selenium in biology of cancer has increased at rapid rate especially during last two decades. Basic research and clinical studies involving animal models and more recently studies in human strongly support the protective role of selenium ...

Organoselenium compounds as fluorescent probes
Coordination Chemistry Reviews, 2015Abstract Fluoroprobes are compounds which detect analytes (neutral molecules and ions) by simple, inexpensive, and fast fluorimetric responses. In this review, we provide insights into the development of new organoselenium compounds as fluoroprobes for detecting various analytes. These organoselenium fluoroprobes are capable of metal cation and anion

Organoselenium Compounds in Medicinal Chemistry
ChemMedChemAbstractThe chemical and biological interest in this element and the molecules bearing selenium has been exponentially growing over the years. Selenium, formerly designated as a toxin, becomes a vital trace element for life that appears as selenocysteine and its dimeric form, selenocystine, in the active sites of selenoproteins, which catalyze a wide ...

Sigmatropic rearrangements of organoselenium compounds
1999Abstract In the field of synthetic organoselenium chemistry, [2,3]sigmatropic rearrangements of allylic selenium compounds and selenoxide eliminations (see Chapter 2) are the most fundamental reactions. A typical [2,3]sigmatropic rearrangement involves a transfer of oxygen from the selenium atom to the carbon atom of an allylic ...

Separation of organoselenium compounds and their electrochemical detection
Analytical and Bioanalytical Chemistry, 2004A simplified procedure based on ion-exchange separation of selenourea (Se-U) and selenocystamine (Se-CM), which have very close half-wave potential when they are simultaneously analyzed by voltammetric techniques, has been developed and optimized. Thus, selenocystamine remains in the cation exchanger Purolite C 100 H, whereas selenourea is found in the

Thermodynamics of organoselenium and organotellurium compounds
Russian Chemical Reviews, 1995Experimental values of the enthalpies of formation (ΔHf°) and of the specific heat (Cp°) of the organic compounds of selenium and tellurium, are discussed, including their complexes with dialkylzinc and dialkylcadmium. Different forms of the methods of combustion enthalpy and of reaction calorimetry, used to determine ΔHf° values, are examined.
