Transcriptome Analysis Uncovers a Growth-Promoting Activity of Orosomucoid-1 on Hepatocytes

open access: yesEBioMedicine, 2017
The acute phase protein orosomucoid-1 (Orm1) is mainly expressed by hepatocytes (HPCs) under stress conditions. However, its specific function is not fully understood. Here, we report a role of Orm1 as an executer of HPC proliferation. Increases in serum

Orosomucoid 1 is a Potential Prognostic Biomarker for Uterine Sarcoma [PDF]

open access: yesTechnology in Cancer Research & Treatment
Introduction Uterine sarcoma (US) is a rare tumor characterized by high aggressiveness, a tendency for recurrence and distant metastasis, and an extremely poor prognosis.

Orosomucoid 1 interacts with S100A12 and activates ERK signalling to expedite the advancement of bladder cancer [PDF]

open access: yesCell Adhesion & Migration
The research endeavors to expound the role of ORM1 in bladder cancer (BCa) and the implied response mechanism. RT-qPCR and Western blotting examined ORM1 and S100A12 expression. Functional experiments assessed the cellular phenotypes.

Association Between Levels of the Acute Phase Proteins Alpha-1-Acid Glycoprotein and C-Reactive Protein and Serum Concentrations of Clozapine: A Study of 1106 Therapeutic Drug Monitoring Samples. [PDF]

open access: yesBasic Clin Pharmacol Toxicol
ABSTRACT Several publications have reported elevated clozapine concentrations in patients experiencing infections or inflammatory reactions. Proposed mechanisms include increased levels of pro‐inflammatory cytokines that may inhibit clozapine metabolism and enhanced binding of clozapine to the acute phase protein alpha‐1‐acid glycoprotein (AGP).

Orosomucoid 1 Participates in Alveolar Hypercoagulation and Fibrinolytic Inhibition Involving NF-κB Signaling Pathway in LPS-Induced ARDS. [PDF]

open access: yesFASEB J
ORM1 promotes LPS‐induced ARDS by activating NF‐κB in alveolar epithelial II cells, upregulating TF/PAI‐1 to cause hypercoagulation and fibrinolysis inhibition, leading to lung injury. ORM1 knockdown reverses these effects, indicating therapeutic potential.

A New Biomarker Tool for Risk Stratification in “de novo” Acute Heart Failure (OROME)

open access: yesFrontiers in Physiology, 2022
Background: Inflammation is one of the mechanisms involved in heart failure (HF) pathophysiology. Thus, the acute phase reactant protein, orosomucoid, was associated with a worse post-discharge prognosis in de novo acute HF (AHF).

The role of the host—Neutrophil biology

open access: yesPeriodontology 2000, EarlyView., 2023
Abstract Neutrophilic polymorphonuclear leukocytes (neutrophils) are myeloid cells packed with lysosomal granules (hence also called granulocytes) that contain a formidable antimicrobial arsenal. They are terminally differentiated cells that play a critical role in acute and chronic inflammation, as well as in the resolution of inflammation and wound ...

Serum Orosomucoid Is Associated with Serum Adiponectin, Adipose Tissue Insulin Resistance Index, and a Family History of Type 2 Diabetes in Young Normal Weight Japanese Women

open access: yesJournal of Diabetes Research, 2022
Introduction. Adipose tissue (AT) expandability may be facilitated by adiponectin and suppressed by orosomucoid, and reduced AT expandability may be associated with first-degree relatives of type 2 diabetes.

Orosomucoid, a new biomarker in the association between obesity and periodontitis. [PDF]

open access: yesPLoS ONE, 2013
Epidemiological data indicate an association between periodontitis and obesity. The biological mechanisms of this relationship remain unclear. A cross-sectional study was conducted to evaluate the relationship between periodontitis and the common ...
