Discovery of Pyranonaphthoquinones and an Eighteen-Membered Ring Macrolide from the Rhizospheric Soil-Derived Fungus Phialocephala Sp. Yud18001 by Osmac Strategy

Fitoterapia, 2023
Two new pyranonaphthoquinones, phialoyxinones A (1) and B (2), a new eighteen-membered ring lactone, phialoyxtone (3), and five known pyranonaphthoquinone derivatives were identified from the fungus Phialocephala sp. YUD18001, which was isolated from the rhizospheric soil associated with Gastrodia elata.

The chemical diversity, the attractant, anti-acetylcholinesterase, and antifungal activities of metabolites from biocontrol Trichoderma harzianum uncovered by OSMAC strategy

Bioorganic Chemistry, 2021
Eight new compounds (1-8) were discovered from Trichoderma harzianum associated with edible mushroom by the one strain many compounds (OSMAC) strategy. Triharzianin A (1) is the first naturally scaffold characterized by a C13-prostaglandin skeleton. The configurations of 1-3, and 5 were determined by the Mosher's method, experimental and calculated ECD

OSMAC strategy integrated with molecular networking discovery peniciacetals A−I, nine new meroterpenoids from the mangrove-derived fungus Penicillium sp. HLLG-122

Bioorganic Chemistry, 2023
Nine new highly oxygenated meroterpenoids, peniciacetals A-I (1-9), along with five known analogues (10-14) were isolated from the mangrove-derived fungus Penicillium sp. HLLG-122 based on the guidance of molecular networking and OSMAC approach. Peniciacetals A-B (1-2) were characterized with a unique 6/6/6/6/5 pentacyclic system possessing an unusual ...

OSMAC Strategy: A promising way to explore microbial cyclic peptides

European Journal of Medicinal Chemistry
Microbial secondary metabolites are pivotal for the development of novel drugs. However, conventional culture techniques, have left a vast array of unexpressed biosynthetic gene clusters (BGCs) in microorganisms, hindering the discovery of metabolites with distinct structural features and diverse biological functions.

Fungal Polyketides with Three Distinctive Ring Skeletons from the Fungus Penicillium canescens Uncovered by OSMAC and Molecular Networking Strategies

The Journal of Organic Chemistry, 2020
Four unusual polyketides possessing three unambiguous chemical architectures were discovered from the fermentation of Penicillium canescens assisted by the one strain-many compounds (OSMAC) strategy and MS2-based molecular networking. Penicanone (1) is the first naturally occurring polyketide characterized by a 6/6/8 tricyclic carbon skeleton ...

Discovery of a Hybrid Molecule with Phytotoxic Activity by Genome Mining, Heterologous Expression, and OSMAC Strategy

Journal of Agricultural and Food Chemistry
Genome mining in association with the OSMAC (one strain, many compounds) approach provides a feasible strategy to extend the chemical diversity and novelty of natural products. In this study, we identified the biosynthetic gene cluster (BGC) of restricticin, a promising antifungal agent featuring a reactive primary amine, from the fungus Aspergillus ...

(±)-Preisomide: A new alkaloid featuring a rare naturally occurring tetrahydro-2H-1,2-oxazin skeleton from an endophytic fungus Preussia isomera by using OSMAC strategy

Fitoterapia, 2020
A new alkaloid, named (±)-preisomide (1), together with five known polyketides (2-6), were isolated from an endophytic fungus Preussia isomera in Panax notoginseng by using one strain-many compounds (OSMAC) strategy. Their structures were identified by extensive spectroscopic experiments and comparison with literature data.

Microbial Coculture and OSMAC Approach as Strategies to Induce Cryptic Fungal Biogenetic Gene Clusters

2017
This chapter provides an overview of successful examples that highlight the power of the one strain many compounds (OSMAC) approach or of microbial cocultivation for an elicitation of bioactive fungal natural products that resulted either in an enhanced accumulation of constitutively present compounds, and/or in an accumulation of new natural compounds
