Fibronectin adsorption on osteoconductive hydroxyapatite and non-osteoconductiveα-alumina

Biomedical Materials, 2016
The osteoconductivity mechanism of hydroxyapatite (HAp) has not been elucidated. It is hypothesized that specific proteins adsorb on HAp, promoting its osteoconductivity. To verify this hypothesis, we compared the adsorption behavior of fibronectin (Fn) on HAp powder and on α-alumina (α-Al2O3) powder, a material with no osteoconductivity.

Osteoconductive Composite Grouts for Orthopedic Use

Annals of the New York Academy of Sciences, 1988
A composite of HA particulate and calcium sulfate hemihydrate has been developed. When this dry material is mixed with either sterile saline or water, the resulting mixture begins to gel. While in the gel or dough state, the composite can be manually inserted or injected under pressure into a bone defect where it sets in situ.

Experimental Vertebroplasty Using Osteoconductive Granular Material

Spine, 2000
Osteoporotic human cadaveric thoracic vertebral bodies and vertebral bodies from mature sheep were used as model systems to assess coral resorption and new bone formation after injection of coral granules. To evaluate the use of natural coral exoskeleton, an osteoconductive material, for the filling of vertebral bodies.Percutaneous injection of ...
