The NLRP3 Inflammasome Regulates Orthodontic Tooth Movement

open access: yesOrthodontics &Craniofacial Research, Volume 29, Issue 1, Page 134-143, February 2026.
ABSTRACT Objective The NLRP3 inflammasome is a damage sensor driving pyroptotic cell death during orthodontic tooth movement (OTM). Recent studies have revealed impaired one‐week OTM in mice lacking NLRP3. However, the relevance of NLRP3 during long‐term OTM remains unknown.

Interleukin-17A upregulates receptor activator of NF-kappaB on osteoclast precursors. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2010
IntroductionThe interaction between the immune and skeletal systems is evidenced by the bone loss observed in autoimmune diseases such as rheumatoid arthritis. In this paper we describe a new mechanism by which the immune cytokine IL-17A directly affects

Similar Individual Serum Levels of MCP‐1, TNF‐α, and IL‐6 From Periodontitis Patients Before and 1 Year After Treatment

open access: yesScandinavian Journal of Immunology, Volume 103, Issue 2, February 2026.
Periodontitis patients before and 1 year present with similar levels of MCP‐1, TNF‐α, and IL‐6, cytokine equilibrium. MCP‐1, TNF‐α, and IL‐6 are not correlated per individual, meaning that some individuals may present with relatively high levels of one of the cytokines with lower levels of the other cytokines or cytokine signature.

The levels of osteoprotegerin, transforming growth factor-β, and some cytokines in women with coronary heart disease concurrent with severe osteoporosis

open access: yesТерапевтический архив, 2015
Aim. To determine the serum level of cytokines in women with coronary heart disease (CHD) concurrent with osteoporosis (OP) and in those with isolated CHD; to assess a relationship of the levels of cytokines, osteoprotegerin (OPG), and transforming ...
