Culture, Social Interdependence, and Ostracism [PDF]

open access: yesCurrent Directions in Psychological Science, 2017
Recent research has demonstrated that cultural groups differ in how they experience ostracism and in how they behave in the wake of being ostracized. We review this literature paying particular attention to the role that one key cultural variable, social interdependence, plays in moderating responses to ostracism.

Edible and Recyclable Gelatin‐Based Electronics for High‐Precision Health and Environmental Monitoring

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
An edible and recyclable composite film composed of gelatin and activated charcoal is presented for multifunctional health and environmental monitoring. The edible films exhibit tuneable mechanical and electrical properties, along with multimodal sensing capabilities for strain, humidity, and temperature. The composite film is degradable and recyclable,

Multifunctional and Flexible Phase Change Composites for Dual‐Mode Thermal Management of Lithium‐Ion Batteries

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This study develops flexible, leakage‐proof phase change composites with dual‐mode thermal management for lithium‐ion batteries. The composites offer Joule heating, passive cooling, and temperature sensing. Simulations validate their performance and provide insights into material optimisation.

On vicarious ostracism. Examining the mediators of observers’ reactions towards the target and the sources of ostracism

open access: yesSocial Influence, 2017
Ostracism is a painful experience, to the point that even observing ostracism hurts. We extend research on vicarious ostracism by investigating how observers subsequently behave and whether this is driven by intrapersonal feelings (need satisfaction) and/

How and when workplace ostracism influences employee deviant behavior: A self-determination theory perspective

open access: yesFrontiers in Psychology, 2022
Drawing on self-determination theory, this study examines the relationship between workplace ostracism and deviant behavior by focusing on the mediating role of basic psychological needs and the moderating role of perceived inclusive climate.

Zinc Grid Based Transparent Electrodes for Organic Photovoltaics

open access: yesAdvanced Energy Materials, EarlyView.
A transparent flexible electrode based on an embedded zinc grid with ≈1 µm linewidth is reported, and its utility as a drop‐in replacement for indium‐tin oxide coated glass electrodes in organic photovoltaic devices is demonstrated. The zinc grids are fabricated using the unconventional approach of condensation coefficient modulation, using a ...

Operando X‐Ray and Postmortem Investigations of High‐Voltage Electrochemical Degradation in Single‐Crystal‐LiNiO2–Graphite Cells

open access: yesAdvanced Energy Materials, EarlyView.
Through comprehensive operando and postmortem investigations, it is shown that the single‐crystalline LiNiO2 cathodes, even when cycled under stressful conditions that expedite O loss, can retain their bulk redox stability. The predominant cathode degradation mode is the growth of a densified surface layer, which severely impedes Li‐ion diffusion and ...

Unique Na5−xSbSe Phase Enables High‐Rate Performance of Sb2Se3 Anodes in Na‐Ion Batteries

open access: yesAdvanced Energy Materials, EarlyView.
The (de)sodiation mechanism of Sb2Se3 is revealed through advanced operando techniques and ab initio simulations and underscores the value of complementary methods in exploring battery mechanisms. A new Na5−xSbSe phase is identified as the final sodiation product of Sb2Se3 anodes in Na‐ion batteries (NIBs), which enables the remarkably high‐rate ...

Social ostracism: current state of the problem, methodology and research methods

open access: yesПсихология и право, 2020
The problem of overcoming the risks and factors that generate destructive (anti-social, delinquent, auto-destructive, etc.) behavior of minors and youth is relevant for juvenile legal psychology and requires the construction of effective research models.

A scoping review of non‐binary research in “Australian” social sciences: Community, solidarity, resilience and resisting marginalisation

open access: yesAustralian Journal of Social Issues, EarlyView.
Abstract Non‐binary and genderqueer identities are increasingly discussed in public discourse and academia, but there remains a dearth of academic literature centred on non‐binary people's lives and experiences. When non‐binary people are included in research, it is frequently as an additive to explorations of trans identities and subsumed under the ...
