Outer-Membrane Proteins of Haemophilus paragallinarum
Avian Diseases, 1990The outer-membrane protein (OMP) profiles of four isolates of Haemophilus paragallinarum (0083, 0222, Modesto, and HP31) were examined by sodium dodecyl sulfate-polyacrylamide gel electrophoresis. OMPs were isolated by sonic disruption followed by differential centrifugation and selective solubilization in Triton X-100.

Comparison of Chlamydia outer membrane complex to recombinant outer membrane proteins as vaccine
Vaccine, 2020The Chlamydial outer membrane complex (COMC) from the elementary body (EB) is a protein rich insoluble outer membrane shell from which cytosolic proteins have been extracted with detergent. In this study we conducted mass spectrometry experiments to detect proteins in the COMC prepared from C. muridarum EB.

The outer membrane is considered to be a barrier in Gram-negative bacteria. However, bacteria are not autonomous and have to communicate in many ways with their surroundings. This interaction ranges from their association to surfaces, uptake of solutes, and sensing of environmental conditions to export of solutes into attacked cells.

Assembly of Bacterial Outer Membrane Proteins
2012Various methods that are routinely used to study the subcellular localization of membrane proteins in wild-type Gram-negative bacteria fall short in genetic studies addressing the biogenesis of outer membrane proteins (OMPs). Here, we describe three biochemical methods that can be used in such studies to evaluate the proper assembly of OMPs into the ...

Outer membrane proteins of Pasteurella multocida
Veterinary Microbiology, 2010Pasteurella multocida is a ubiquitous pathogen which causes a range of diseases in diverse animal species. Components of the bacterial outer membrane, such as trans membrane proteins and lipoproteins, play key roles in the interaction of the pathogen with the host environment and in the host immune response to infection. In this review, we evaluate the

Outer membrane protein serosubtyping ofNeisseria meningitidis
European Journal of Clinical Microbiology & Infectious Diseases, 1988A system for typing Neisseria meningitidis has been developed which uses monoclonal antibodies against two separate classes of outer membrane proteins (class 1 and class 2/3) in addition to capsular polysaccharide serogrouping. It was shown that class 1 outer membrane protein subtypes are common to meningococcal reference strains of different serotypes.

Acinetobacter baumannii outer membrane protein a modulates the biogenesis of outer membrane vesicles
The Journal of Microbiology, 2012Acinetobacter baumannii secretes outer membrane vesicles (OMVs) during both in vitro and in vivo growth, but the biogenesis mechanism by which A. baumannii produces OMVs remains undefined. Outer membrane protein A of A. baumannii (AbOmpA) is a major protein in the outer membrane and the C-terminus of AbOmpA interacts with diaminopimelate of ...

The amino terminal 29 amino acids of the outer mitochondrial membrane protein of yeast, OMM70 (MAS70), consisting of the targeting and membrane anchor domains, has been fused to a reporter protein, dihydrofolate reductase. The hybrid protein, designated pOMD29, was efficiently imported into the outer membrane of rat heart mitochondria by a process ...

Biogenesis of chloroplast outer envelope membrane proteins
Plant Cell Reports, 2019Most organisms on Earth use glucose, a photosynthetic product, as energy source. The chloroplast, the home of photosynthesis, is the most representative and characteristic organelle in plants and is enclosed by the outer envelope and inner envelope membranes.
