Overexpression of the urokinase receptor splice variant uPAR-del4/5 in breast cancer cells affects cell adhesion and invasion in a dose-dependent manner and modulates transcription of tumor-associated genes [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
mRNA levels of the urokinase receptor splice variant uPAR-del4/5 are associated with prognosis in breast cancer. Its overexpression in cancer cells affects tumor biologically relevant processes.

Engineered extracellular vesicles enriched with the miR‐214/199a cluster enhance the efficacy of chemotherapy in ovarian cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Loss of the miR‐214/199a cluster is associated with recurrence in ovarian cancer. Engineered small extracellular vesicles (m214‐sEVs) elevate miR‐214‐3p/miR‐199a‐5p in tumor cells, suppress β‐catenin, TLR4, and YKT6 signaling, reprogram tumor‐derived sEV cargo, reduce chemoresistance and migration, and enhance carboplatin efficacy and survival in ...

Stretching Induces Overexpression of RhoA and Rac1 GTPases in Breast Cancer Cells

open access: yes, 2019
Rho GTPases are well known for regulating cell morphology and intracellular interactions. They can either be oncogenic or tumor suppressors. However, these proteins are associated with the acquirement of malignant features by cancer cells.

Overexpression of ICE1 gene in mungbean (Vigna radiata L.) for cold tolerance

open access: yes, 2020
The putative transgenic mungbean (Vigna radiata Var. OBGG-52) plants were regenerated on Murashige and Skoog (1962) medium supplemented with 1.0 mg/L 6-benzylaminopurine (BA).

The role of overexpressed HER2 in transformation

open access: yesAnnals of Oncology, 2001
The HER family of receptors has an important role in the network of cell signals controlling cell growth and differentiation. Although the activity of the HER receptor is strictly controlled in normal cells, HER2 receptor overexpression plays a pivotal role in transformation and tumorigenesis.

Significance of Aurora B overexpression in hepatocellular carcinoma. Aurora B Overexpression in HCC [PDF]

open access: yesBMC Cancer, 2010
Abstract Background To investigate the significance of Aurora B expression in hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC). Methods The Aurora B and Aurora A mRNA level was measured in 160 HCCs and the paired nontumorous liver tissues by reverse transcription-polymerase chain reaction ...

IMPDH inhibition enhances cytarabine efficacy in SAMHD1‐expressing leukaemia cells via guanine nucleotide depletion

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Cytarabine is a key therapy for acute myeloid leukaemia (AML), but its efficacy is limited by the dNTPase SAMHD1, which hydrolyses its active metabolite. Screening nucleotide biosynthesis inhibitors revealed that IMPDH inhibitors selectively sensitise SAMHD1‐proficient AML cells to cytarabine.

Overexpression of OsHMA3 enhances Cd tolerance and expression of Zn transporter genes in rice

open access: yesJournal of Experimental Botany, 2014
Summary Overexpression of a tonoplast-localized transporter, OsHMA3, enhanced Cd tolerance and selectively reduced Cd accumulation in the shoots, but shoot Zn level was maintained by up-regulating genes involved in Zn uptake/translocation.
