Machine Operator Electrocuted when Crane Contacts Overhead Power Line

open access: yes
On December 5, 1988, a 24 year old male boring machine operator was electrocuted when the crane moving the pipe he was guiding contacted an overhead power line. His employer was a small company engaged in horizontal boring operations.

A Decoy‐Receptor‐Armed Biomimetic Nanotherapeutic With Inherent Tropism for Conserved Pathogenic Macrophages for Treating Osteoarthritis and Intervertebral Disc Degeneration

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
A biomimetic doppelgänger nanosystem neutralizes extracellular inflammatory cytokines and silences intracellular pyroptosis, reprogramming pathogenic macrophages to attenuate both joint and spine degeneration. ABSTRACT Osteoarthritis (OA) and intervertebral disc degeneration (IVDD) are debilitating musculoskeletal disorders driven by shared ...

Gate‐Tunable Polarity‐Reconfigurable Photovoltaic Response With Dual Linearity in NbS3/WSe2 Heterostructures for In‐Sensor Image Processing

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
An NbS3/WSe2 van der Waals heterostructure realizes a continuously gate‐tunable self‐powered photovoltaic response through interfacial band‐alignment modulation and reversible built‐in electric‐field switching. The short‐circuit photocurrent scales linearly with incident power density, while short‐circuit photoresponsivity varies linearly with gate ...

From Sensing Mechanisms to System Co‐Design: Graphene‐Based Sensors and Readout Circuits

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This review establishes a unified PS–EQ–RF framework linking graphene sensing mechanisms, native electrical outputs, and output‐specific readout circuits. Voltage‐, current‐, resistance‐, and capacitance‐type sensing systems are systematically classified to guide architecture selection, low‐noise design, system co‐design, and practical integration ...

A Reconfigurable Memristive Spiking Neuron Enabling Advanced Neuromorphic Computing

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Pek Jun Tiw and co‐workers develop a reconfigurable memristive neuron that can exhibit four spiking behaviors with freely tunable spike train parameters. The neuron supports multiplexed spike encoding of multiple pieces of information. It also supports advanced neural network strategies, such as neural heterogeneity and dynamic mode switching ...

Triple‐Level Content‐Addressable Vertical NAND Flash Memory

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Commercial triple‐level‐cell V‐NAND flash memory is transformed into a compact content‐addressable memory by directly exploiting its eight threshold‐voltage states. A parity‐split search scheme preserves storage density while enabling reliable multi‐level and don't‐care matching. Parallel word‐line search delivers up to 24‐fold higher throughput and 54.
