Induction of DKK1 by ox‐LDL negatively regulates intracellular lipid accumulation in macrophages [PDF]
Dickkopf1 (DKK1), a canonical Wnt/β‐catenin pathway antagonist, is closely associated with cardiovascular disease and adipogenesis. We performed an in vitro study to determine whether oxidized low‐density lipoprotein (ox‐LDL) increased the expression of DKK1 in macrophages and whether β‐catenin and liver X receptor α (LXRα) were involved in this ...

PKCδ-IRAK1 axis regulates oxidized LDL-induced IL-1β production in monocytes[S]
This study examined the role of interleukin (IL)-1 receptor-associated kinase (IRAK) and protein kinase C (PKC) in oxidized LDL (Ox-LDL)-induced monocyte IL-1β production.

Effect of vitamin supplementation on serum oxidized low-density lipoprotein levels in male subjects with cardiovascular disease risk factors. [PDF]
Objective(s):Oxidized low-density lipoproteins (ox-LDLs) appear to play a significant role in atherogenesis. In fact, circulating ox-LDL concentrations have been recognized as a risk factor for cardiovascular disease (CVD).

Impact of acute exercise on antioxidant enzymes activity and lipid status in blood of patients with hypertension [PDF]
Background/Aim. Many studies support the hypothesis that oxidative stress is involved in the pathogenic process of a variety of diseases including hypertension. In humans, hypertension is also considered a state of oxidative stress that can contribute to

ABSTRACT Acute lung injury (ALI) is a severe complication of sepsis, yet the role of lncRNA NORAD in its pathogenesis remains unclear. Using LPS‐stimulated BEAS‐2B and HBEC3‐KT cells as well as cecal ligation and puncture (CLP)‐induced ALI models in C57BL/6 mice, we found that NORAD expression was markedly upregulated and promoted cell injury ...

Ox‐LDL aggravates contrast‐induced injury of renal tubular epithelial cells
AbstractHypercholesterolemia can aggravate contrast‐induced acute kidney injury, and the exacerbation of renal tubular epithelial cell (RTEC) injury is a major cause. However, the exact mechanisms remain obscure. Mitophagy, a type of autophagy, selectively eliminates damaged mitochondria and reduces mitochondrial oxidative stress, which is strongly ...

Relationship of oxidized low density lipoprotein with lipid profile and oxidative stress markers in healthy young adults: a translational study [PDF]
BACKGROUND: Despite oxidized low density lipoprotein (ox-LDL) plays important roles in the pro-inflammatory and atherosclerotic processes, the relationships with metabolic and oxidative stress biomarkers have been only scarcely investigated in young ...

The influence of one-carbon metabolism gene polymorphisms and gene-environment interactions on homocysteine, vitamin B12, folate and lipids in a Brazilian adolescent population [PDF]
Background: Several single-nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) have been associated with the metabolism of Vitamin B12, folic acid, homocysteine and lipids. However, the interaction between SNPs involved in the one-carbon metabolism pathway and macronutrient

Inflammation, Immunity, and Cardiovascular Diseases
Cardiovascular stress signals (e.g., hemodynamic shear, oxidized lipids, and ischemia) act on endothelial and immune cells to activate and amplify inflammation through NF‐κB, the NLRP3 inflammasome, and JAK/STAT signaling, inducing proinflammatory cytokines/chemokines (IL‐6, IL‐1β, TNF‐α, and CCL2) and self‐amplifying circuits; clinically, inflammatory

Effect of Endomorphins on HUVECs Treated by ox-LDL and Its Related Mechanisms
We found in the present study that treatment with ox-LDL decreased the cell viability and the content of nitric oxide (NO) and the activity of nitric oxide synthase (NOS) as well as eNOS mRNA expression, while increasing the mRNA expression and content of endothelin-1 (ET-1) in human umbilical vein endothelial cells (HUVECs).
