Presence of OXA-48 Gene in a Clinical Isolate of Lactobacillus rhamnosus

Foodborne Pathogens and Disease, 2019
Lactobacilli are part of the microbiota and are also used as probiotics. However, in recent years they have been associated with invasive infections, especially bacteremia. Lactobacillus spp. are usually susceptible to penicillins, macrolides, and carbapenems, but Lactobacillus rhamnosus is intrinsically resistant to glycopeptides.

The First Enterobacter cloacae Co-Producing NDM and OXA-48 Carbapenemases and Interhospital Spread of OXA-48 and NDM-Producing Klebsiella pneumoniae in Turkey

Clinical Laboratory, 2017
The aim of this study was to investigate the occurrence of carbapenemase-producing Enterobacteriaceae.A total of 54 carbapenem nonsusceptible Enterobacteriaceae (CRE) isolates were recovered from clinical samples sent to the Dr. Lutfi Kirdar Kartal Training and Research Hospital from the period 2011 through 2014.

Deep Profiling of the Klebsiella pneumoniae OXA-48 Proteome

2022
Klebsiella pneumoniae is a nosocomial pathogen that exhibits multidrug resistance and virulence. Emergence of carbapenem-resistant K. pneumoniae is increasingly reported worldwide, especially strains producing OXA-48 carbapenemases, Ambler class D beta-lactamases encoded by blaOXA-48 gene.
