The Global Ascendency of OXA-48-Type Carbapenemases [PDF]

open access: yesClinical Microbiology Reviews, 2019
Surveillance studies have shown that OXA-48-like carbapenemases are the most common carbapenemases in Enterobacterales in certain regions of the world and are being introduced on a regular basis into regions of nonendemicity, where they are responsible for nosocomial outbreaks. OXA-48, OXA-181, OXA-232, OXA-204, OXA-

Evaluation of Chromogenic Medium chromID OXA-48 for Detection of OXA-48 Producing Enterobacteriaceae

The Egyptian Journal of Medical Microbiology, 2017
Background: In the last years there has been an increased incidence of carbapenemase-producing Enterobacteriaceae which has become a major public health concern. One of the major concerns for controlling the spread of OXA-48- producers is the absence of reliable phenotypical tests that might contribute to their easy recognition.

Evaluation of OXA-48 K-Se T: an immunochromatographic assay for rapid detection of OXA-48–producing Enterobacteriaceae

Diagnostic Microbiology and Infectious Disease, 2016
The OXA-48 K-Se T, a new immunochromatographic assay for rapid detection of OXA-48-producing Enterobacteriaceae, has been evaluated in a Spanish Hospital during a 3-month period. A collection of 100 Enterobacteriaceae including 79 isolates producing OXA-48 has been tested. Sensitivity and specificity of 100% were obtained.

Deep Profiling of the Klebsiella pneumoniae OXA-48 Proteome

2022
Klebsiella pneumoniae is a nosocomial pathogen that exhibits multidrug resistance and virulence. Emergence of carbapenem-resistant K. pneumoniae is increasingly reported worldwide, especially strains producing OXA-48 carbapenemases, Ambler class D beta-lactamases encoded by blaOXA-48 gene.

Hidden carbapeneme resistance in OXA-48 positive E. coli

2019
Abstract Background and aim OXA-48 hydrolyzes penicillins except of temocillin and carbapenems but spares expanded- spectrum cephalosporins. It is not inhibited by clavulanic acid, sulbactam or tazobactam. During 2016, 102 ESBL producing E. coli were collected in Slavonia region of Croatia in the frames of another study.
