Synthesis of 1,2,3‐Triazole‐Methyl‐Menadione Derivatives: Evaluation of Electrochemical and Antiparasitic Properties against two Blood‐Dwelling Parasites

open access: yesChemMedChem, Volume 20, Issue 6, March 15, 2025.
The present study describes the synthesis and thorough investigation of 1,2,3‐triazole‐methyl‐menadione derivatives with particular emphasis on their electrochemical and physicochemical properties and their antiparasitic activities against Plasmodium falciparum and Schistosoma mansoni. Although less effective against P.

Cheminformatics Models for Inhibitors of Schistosoma mansoni Thioredoxin Glutathione Reductase

open access: yesThe Scientific World Journal, Volume 2014, Issue 1, 2014., 2014
Schistosomiasis is a neglected tropical disease caused by a parasite Schistosoma mansoni and affects over 200 million annually. There is an urgent need to discover novel therapeutic options to control the disease with the recent emergence of drug resistance.

Ruthenium Catalysed Transfer Deuteration of Heteroaromatics in D2O

open access: yesAsian Journal of Organic Chemistry, Volume 14, Issue 1, January 2025.
The partial reduction of heterocycles with selective deuterium incorporation using formic acid/sodium formate, D2O and a ruthenium catalyst was achieved. A biphasic medium (toluene/D2O) allowed excellent catalyst recycling. The ruthenium center allowed an inversion of polarity of D+ that was transformed into deuteride.

Antimicrobial Multidrug Resistance and Mechanisms of Action: An Overview

open access: yesBioMed Research International, Volume 2025, Issue 1, 2025.
Antimicrobial multidrug resistance is the ability of microorganisms to withstand the effects of several antimicrobial agents, presenting a major challenge to modern healthcare systems worldwide. Although considerable research has been conducted, the molecular and evolutionary mechanisms underlying resistance are still not completely understood.

From Incidentaloma to Suspicion of Malignancy: The Diverse Clinical Presentation of Gonadal Schistosomiasis mansoni

open access: yesCase Reports in Infectious Diseases, Volume 2013, Issue 1, 2013., 2013
Schistosomiasis is the second most widespread parasitic disease in the world, second only to malaria. The usual places the Schistosoma mansoni can be found in are the rectal and sigmoidal venules, as well as other segments of the large intestine of men. It may also be present in other ectopic topographies.
