Single cis‐elements in brassinosteroid‐induced upregulated genes are insufficient to recruit both redox states of the BIL1/BZR1 DNA‐binding domain

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Phytohormone brassinosteroid‐induced gene regulation by the transcription factor BIL1/BZR1 involves redox‐dependent DNA‐binding alternation and interaction with the transcription factor PIF4. The reduced BIL1/BZR1 dimer binds preferred cis‐elements, while oxidation alters its oligomerization state and disrupts DNA‐binding ability.

NiCo/Al2O3 nanocatalysts for the synthesis of 5-amino-1-pentanol and 1,5-pentanediol from biomass-derived 2-hydroxytetrahydropyran

open access: yesGreen Chemical Engineering
Al2O3-supported monometallic Ni, Co, and bimetallic Ni–Co nanocatalysts originated from layered double hydroxide precursors were synthesized by co-precipitation method, and used for the synthesis of useful 5-amino-1-pentanol (5-AP) and 1,5-pentanediol (1,

Follow-up of a healthy lifestyle education program (the EdAl study): four years after cessation of randomized controlled trial intervention

open access: yesBMC Public Health, 2018
Background An important challenge of school-based childhood obesity (OB) intervention programs is understanding the maintenance of the effects after cessation of the intervention to overcome the limitations of follow-up studies.

Oxidative Stress, Nitric Oxide, and Diabetes [PDF]

open access: yesThe Review of Diabetic Studies, 2010
In the recent decades, oxidative stress has become focus of interest in most biomedical disciplines and many types of clinical research. Increasing evidence from research on several diseases show that oxidative stress is associated with the pathogenesis of diabetes, obesity, cancer, ageing, inflammation, neurodegenerative disorders, hypertension ...

Real-time quantitative analysis of volatile products generated during solid-state polypropylene thermal oxidation [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
Analysis of volatile organic compounds (VOCs) during PP thermal oxidation under three oxygen partial pressures (0%, 21% and 100% of atmospheric pressure) at 140 C was performed by proton transfer reaction coupled with Fourier transform ion cyclotron ...

A working model for cytoplasmic assembly of H/ACA snoRNPs

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Dyskerin is the component of nuclear H/ACA ribonucleoproteins (RNPs) endowed with pseudouridine synthase catalytic activity. Two isoforms of human dyskerin have been characterized: the abundant Iso1, mainly nuclear, and the shorter Iso3, mainly cytoplasmic but occasionally imported into nuclei.

C9orf72 ALS‐causing mutations lead to mislocalization and aggregation of nucleoporin Nup107 into stress granules

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Mutations in the C9orf72 gene represent the most common genetic cause of amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS), a fatal neurodegenerative disease. Using patient‐derived neurons and C. elegans models, we find that the nucleoporin Nup107 is dysregulated in C9orf72‐associated ALS. Conversely, reducing Nup107 levels mitigates disease‐related changes.
