Autophagy: A cyto-protective mechanism which prevents primary human hepatocyte apoptosis during oxidative stress [PDF]
The role of autophagy in the response of human hepatocytes to oxidative stress remains unknown. Understanding this process may have important implications for the understanding of basic liver epithelial cell biology and the responses of hepatocytes ...

Fluorescent probes allow dynamic visualization of phosphoinositides in living cells (left), whereas mass spectrometry provides high‐sensitivity, isomer‐resolved quantitation (right). Their synergistic use captures complementary aspects of lipid signaling. This review illustrates how these approaches reveal the spatiotemporal regulation and quantitative

Oxidative stress mechanisms as potential therapeutic targets in chronic kidney disease
Chronic kidney disease (CKD) is a gradual loss of kidney function over time, leading to the development of kidney failure. CKD is a consequence of common civilization diseases, such as arterial hypertension and diabetes, as well as primary kidney and ...

MutY-Homolog (MYH) inhibition reduces pancreatic cancer cell growth and increases chemosensitivity [PDF]
Patients with pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma (PC) have a poor prognosis due to metastases and chemoresistance. PC is characterized by extensive fibrosis, which creates a hypoxic microenvironment, and leads to increased chemoresistance and intracellular

Potentiation of an antimalarial oxidant drug [PDF]
In a previous report we described the synergistic antimalarial interaction between two structurally similar compounds, rufigallol and exifone. To explain this phenomenon, we proposed that exifone is transformed inside the parasitized erythrocyte into a xanthone with potent antimalarial properties.

This study reveals how the mitochondrial protein Slm35 is regulated in Saccharomyces cerevisiae. The authors identify stress‐responsive DNA elements and two upstream open reading frames (uORFs) in the 5′ untranslated region of SLM35. One uORF restricts translation, and its mutation increases Slm35 protein levels and mitophagy.

Anti bacterial Effectiveness of Electro-Chemically Activated (ECA) Water as a Root Canal Irrigant- An In-vitro Comparative Study [PDF]
Introduction: Sodium hypochlorite, is the irrigant of choice for many clinicians, but its strong toxic and damaging effects on vital periapical tissues is always a matter of concern. So, the search for a root canal irrigant with a broad antimicrobial
