Variation in the angular heat flux of the oxide pool with Rayleigh number
Annals of Nuclear Energy, 2017Abstract The experiments were performed on natural convection heat transfer of an oxide pool using a three-dimensional hemispheric test rig. To achieve a high Ra , mass transfer experiments were conducted based on the analogy between heat and mass transfers. A CuSO 4 -H 2 SO 4 electroplating system was used. The range of modified Ra was from 8.63

Melt pool oxidation and reduction in powder bed fusion
Additive Manufacturing, 2021Abstract In this work, the mechanism of melt pool oxidation and reduction during the powder bed fusion was studied. To elucidate the mechanism, the effect of process parameters such as laser power, scan speed and shield gas flow speed on the variation on oxygen, nitrogen and carbon content in the printed material was investigated.

Oxidative Generation of Diarylcarbenium Ion Pools
Organic Letters, 2006"Cation pools" of diarylcarbenium ions have been generated by the oxidative C-H bond dissociation of diarylmethanes using anodic oxidation. "Diarylcarbenium ion pools" thus generated react with various nucleophiles, such as allylsilanes, ketene silyl acetals, and aromatic compounds.

Oxidation kinetics of corium pool
Nuclear Engineering and Design, 2013Abstract Experimental, theoretical and numerical studies of oxidation kinetics of an open surface corium pool have been reported. The experiments have been carried out within OECD MASCA program and ISTC METCOR, METCOR-P and EVAN projects. It has been shown that the melt oxidation is controlled by an oxidant supply to the melt free surface from the ...

Protein Pool Maintenance During Oxidative Stress
Current Pharmaceutical Design, 2009The production of reactive species causes oxidative modifications of proteins accompanied by a loss of protein function. By protein oxidation all cellular compartments and any amino acid are effected. This might result in a defect of cellular homeostasis.

The nucleotide pool is a significant target for oxidative stress
Free Radical Biology and Medicine, 2006Oxidative stress is considered to be one of the most important phenomena involved in the process of aging and age-related diseases. 8-Oxo-7,8-dihydro-2'-deoxyguanosine (8-oxo-dG) has been frequently used as a marker for oxidative stress. However, the origin of extracellular 8-oxo-dG is not well understood.

Sulfate reduction and S-oxidation in a moorland pool sediment
Biogeochemistry, 1992In an oligotrophic moorland pool in The Netherlands, S cycling near the sediment/water boundary was investigated by measuring (1) SO4 2− reduction rates in the sediment, (2) depletion of SO4 2− in the overlying water column and (3) release of35S from the sediment into the water column. Two locations differing in sediment type (highly organic and sandy)

Modelling the formation and oxidation of molten pools
Annals of Nuclear Energy, 2013Abstract One of the main findings of the Phebus FP bundle melt down tests is that in the bundle, at the end of the test, just below the lower spacer grid a pool of molten materials forms and the rod-like geometry is completely lost. The computer simulations carried out by the mechanistic, single-rod SVECHA/QUENCH (S/Q) code revealed the formation ...

Nitric Oxide as an Anterograde Neurotransmitter in the Trigeminal Motor Pool
Journal of Neurophysiology, 2002We demonstrate the presence of nitric oxide synthase containing fibers within the guinea pig trigeminal motor nucleus and describe the effects of nitric oxide (NO) on trigeminal motoneurons. Using immunohistochemical techniques, we observed nitrergic fibers displaying varicosities and giving rise to bouton-like structures in apposition to retrogradely ...

Effect of Hyperinsulinemia on Urea Pool Size and Substrate Oxidation Rates
Diabetes, 1988Recently, indirect calorimetry has frequently been used together with hyperinsulinemic clamps. With few exceptions, however, no attention was paid in these studies to the possible effects of hyperinsulinemia on urea nitrogen (N) pool size and the consequences of such changes on the calculated rates of protein, lipid, and carbohydrate (CHO) oxidation ...
