Three-dimensional experiment of heat transfer for molten oxidic pool
Progress in Nuclear Energy, 2018Abstract The effectiveness of in-vessel retention (IVR) of core melt during severe accident in light water reactor strongly depends on whether the heat removed from boundaries could exceed the heat generated in the molten pool in lower head of reactor pressure vessel (RPV).

Heat Transfer Behavior of Oxide Nanoparticles in Pool Boiling Experiment
ASME 4th International Conference on Nanochannels, Microchannels, and Minichannels, Parts A and B, 2006The heat transfer characteristics of silica (SiO2), ceria (CeO2), and alumina (Al2O3) nanofluids at 0.5% concentration and particle size of 10nm and 20 nm in pool boiling have been analyzed. The influence of acidity on heat transfer has been studied.

Labile iron pool: the main determinant of cellular response to oxidative stress
Mutation Research - Fundamental and Molecular Mechanisms of Mutagenesis, 2003The trace amounts of "free" iron can catalyse production of a highly toxic hydroxyl radical via Fenton/Haber-Weiss reaction cycle. The critical factor appears to be the availability and abundance of cellular labile iron pool (LIP) that constitutes a crossroad of metabolic pathways of iron-containing compounds and is midway between the cellular need of ...

Poole–Frenkel emission on functionalized, multilayered-packed reduced graphene oxide nanoplatelets
Nanotechnology, 2018The unique electronic, mechanical and optical properties of graphene make it a remarkable 2D material, widely explored in a plethora of applications. However, graphene zero-bandgap and the production of defect-free pristine graphene in large areas still limit some applications.

Does the cellular labile iron pool participate in the oxidation of 2′,7′-dichlorodihydrofluorescein?
Free Radical Research, 2007The fluorogenic probe 2',7'-dichlorodihydrofluorescein diacetate (H(2)DCF-DA) is widely used for the estimation of oxidative stress in cells. It is known that 2',7'-dichlorodihydrofluorescein (H(2)DCF), product of intracellular hydrolysis of H(2)DCF-DA, is oxidized to the fluorescent compound, DCF, mainly by hydrogen peroxide (H(2)O(2)) in the presence

Abstract In isolated hepatic mitochondria, sodium acetate had little effect on the oxidation of octanoate, but conspicuously inhibited the oxidation of palmitate. This differential effect of acetate on long-chain and short-chain fatty acid oxidation is not due to inhibition of the activation or transfer of long-chain fatty acids into the mitochondria.

The Nucleotide Pool, a Target for Low-Dose γ-Ray-Induced Oxidative Stress
Radiation Research, 2008Oxidative stress occurs when the generation of reactive oxygen species (ROS) exceeds the cellular antioxidant capacity. The excess ROS react with and modify cellular components. Nucleic acid modifications are of principal interest because they may cause mutations.

Occult intracellular calcium pools: relevance to neutrophil oxidant production.
The Journal of laboratory and clinical medicine, 1989Human neutrophils use divalent cations for the stimulus-response coupling leading to the respiratory burst. We have studied the relevance of the extracellular versus intracellular calcium stores necessary for superoxide generation in neutrophils and neutrophil cytoplasts stimulated by N-formyl-methionyl-leucyl-phenylalanine (FMLP) and phorbol ester and
