Nitrogen and Oxygen Isotope Effects of Nitrite Oxidation in Various Species of Nitrite-oxidizing Bacteria [PDF]
Bioavailable nitrogen is a limiting nutrient in many parts of the ocean. Nitrite oxidation produces biologically available nitrate, which in turn can help regulate primary production and the absorption of carbon dioxide from the atmosphere.

Imaging Oxygen Distribution in Marine Sediments. The Importance of Bioturbation and Sediment Heterogeneity [PDF]
The influence of sediment oxygen heterogeneity, due to bioturbation, on diffusive oxygen flux was investigated. Laboratory experiments were carried out with 3 macrobenthic species presenting different bioturbation behaviour patterns:the polychaetes ...

This study investigated a novel WST‐8‐based assay for evaluating d‐Amino acid oxidase (DAO) inhibitors. We confirmed its effectiveness using known inhibitors and found that uremic toxins possess relatively weak inhibitory activity compared to existing drugs.

The b-g Transition of Oxygen as a Secondary Fixed Point of the ITS-90 [PDF]
Oxygen is a substance in which two solid-to-solid phase transitions occur in the low temperature range, in addition to the triple point at 54 K: the beta–gamma solid-to-solid transition at 43.8 K and the alfa–beta transition at 23.8 K. The triple point

Oxygen–ozone (O2–O3) therapy is widely used for treating lumbar disc herniation. However, controversy remains regarding the safest and most effective route of administration. While intradiscal injection is purported to show clinical efficacy, it has also

14‐day casting‐induced immobilization reduced gastrocnemius muscle mass and increased non‐heme iron and ferritin heavy chain levels. Despite iron accumulation, transferrin receptor 1 and iron regulatory protein 2 were paradoxically upregulated. Lipid peroxidation was elevated without compensatory antioxidant responses.

5‐Aminolevulinic acid combined with ferric ammonium citrate (5‐ALA/FAC) stimulates dermal papilla cell activity and promotes hair follicle growth. The treatment enhances ERK and AKT signaling, increases hair‐inductive gene expression, and restores dermal papilla function suppressed by dihydrotestosterone and oxidative stress, resulting in enhanced hair

Tire Inflation at Indianapolis 500 [PDF]
One of Indiana Oxygen’s first customers was the Indianapolis Motor Speedway. They provided compressed air during the Speedway’s “500” Mile Race - eliminating the need to hand-pump every tire! Today, over 100 years later, Indiana Oxygen still services the

Activation of the mitochondrial protein OXR1 increases pSyn129 αSynuclein aggregation by lowering ATP levels and altering mitochondrial membrane potential, particularly in response to MSA‐derived fibrils. In contrast, ablation of the ER protein EMC4 enhances autophagic flux and lysosomal clearance, broadly reducing α‐synuclein aggregates.

Declining Oxygen in the World's Ocean and Coastal Waters [PDF]
Oxygen is critical to the health of the ocean. It structures aquatic ecosystems and is a fundamental requirement for marine life from the intertidal zone to the greatest depths of the ocean. Oxygen is declining in the ocean.
