Oxygen-enhanced imaging quantification. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2018
A Oxygen transfer function (*p = 0.016, *2p = 0.031) and B oxygen washout time (*p = 0.016, *2p = 0.031) at all MRI examinations. C Correlation of PO2 with oxygen washout time at first MRI scan (R2 = 0.54, p = 0.003).

EDNRB‐dependent endothelin signaling reduces proliferation and promotes proneural‐to‐mesenchymal transition in gliomas

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Glioma cells mainly express the endothelin receptor EDNRB, while EDNRA is restricted to a perivascular tumor subpopulation. Endothelin signaling reduces glioma cell proliferation while promoting migration and a proneural‐to‐mesenchymal transition associated with poor prognosis. This pathway activates Ca2+, K+, ERK, and STAT3 signalings and is regulated

Somatic mutational landscape in von Hippel–Lindau familial hemangioblastoma

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
The causes of central nervous system (CNS) hemangioblastoma in Von Hippel–Lindau (vHL) disease are unclear. We used Whole Exome Sequencing (WES) on familial hemangioblastoma to investigate events that underlie tumor development. Our findings suggest that VHL loss creates a permissive environment for tumor formation, while additional alterations ...

Development of a non-invasive method to detect pericellular spatial oxygen gradients using FLIM [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
PhDExtracellular oxygen concentrations affect cellular metabolism and influence tissue function. Detection methods for these extracellular oxygen concentrations currently have poor spatial resolution and are frequently invasive.

Heterozygous loss‐of‐function alleles associate the conserved 3′‐5′ exoribonuclease EXOSC10 with hypersensitivity to the anticancer drug 5‐fluorouracil

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
EXOSC10, an essential nuclear RNA exosome‐associated 3′‐5′ exoribonuclease, is inhibited by the anticancer drug 5‐fluorouracil (5‐FU), and EXOSC10 depletion increases 5‐FU sensitivity. The colon‐cancer variant EXOSC10S402T, located in a proteolysis motif, is stable and nuclear but nonfunctional in vivo.

Mitophagy-Inducing Nanocarriers Restore Mitochondrial Quality and Cell Functions in Senescent Retinal Pigment Epithelial Cells

open access: yesOxygen
Age-related macular degeneration (AMD) is an age-associated disease characterized by damage to the central retina and represents a leading cause of acquired blindness, with increasing prevalence in aging populations.

Hijacking emergency granulopoiesis: Neutrophil ontogeny and reprogramming in cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Neutrophils are highly plastic innate immune cells; their functions in cancer extend beyond the tumour microenvironment. This Review summarises current understanding of neutrophil maturation and heterogeneity and highlights tumour‐induced granulopoiesis as a systemic programme that expands immature, immunosuppressive neutrophils via tumour‐derived ...

Design and Synthesis of Fused Derivatives of 7-Hydroxycoumarin (Umbelliferone) with the Flavonol Quercetin and the Flavone Luteolin-Analysis of Their Antioxidant and Physicochemical Properties

open access: yesOxygen
Oxidative stress seems to be part of many deranged processes in the organism, affecting multiple degenerative conditions at a cellular and tissue level.
