Substrate Range and Genetic Analysis of Acinetobacter Vanillate Demethylase [PDF]
An Acinetobacter sp. genetic screen was used to probe structure-function relationships in vanillate demethylase, a two-component monooxygenase. Mutants with null, leaky, and heat-sensitive phenotypes were isolated.

Characterization and Expression Analysis of Heme Oxygenase Genes from
Heme oxygenases (HOs) have a major role in phytochrome chromophore biosynthesis, and chromophores in turn have anti-oxidant properties. Plant heme oxygenases are divided into the HO1 sub-family comprising HO1, HO3, and HO4, and the HO2 sub-family, which ...

BX‐001N, a polyethylene glycol‐conjugated bilirubin 3α nanoparticle, is the first GMP‐grade, synthetic bilirubin‐based nanomedicine. It effectively attenuates acute renal injury, facilitates subacute renal recovery, and suppresses chronic fibrosis after renal ischemia/reperfusion injury via anti‐oxidant and immune‐modulating activity.

Carotenoids are isoprenoid pigments, and sources of vitamin A in humans. The first metabolic pathway for their synthesis is mediated by the enzymes β,β-carotene-15,15′-dioxygenase (BCO1) and β,β-carotene-9′,10′-dioxygenase (BCO2), which cleave ...

Protein import into chloroplasts: new aspects of a well-known topic [PDF]
Protein import into plant chloroplasts is a fascinating topic that is being investigated by many research groups. Since the majority of chloroplast proteins are synthesised as precursor proteins in the cytosol, they have to be posttranslationally ...

Carotinoid-Oxygenase in Chlorella
In Chlorella wurde ein bisher unbekanntes labiles Oxygenasesystem gefunden, das im Dunkeln mit großer Geschwindigkeit Sauerstoff auf Carotinoide überträgt und das durch Licht gehemmt wird. The methionine salvage pathway in Bacillus subtilis [PDF]
BACKGROUND: Polyamine synthesis produces methylthioadenosine, which has to be disposed of. The cell recycles it into methionine through methylthioribose (MTR). Very little was known about MTR recycling for methionine salvage in Bacillus subtilis. RESULTS:
