A note on the open string pair production of the D3/D1 system
We here report a possibility of detecting the open string pair production from the system of a D3 brane, taken as our own (1 + 3)-dimensional world and carrying its worldvolume collinear electric and magnetic fluxes, and a nearby D-string, placed ...

It is shown that many of the $p$-branes of type II string theory and $d=11$ supergravity can have boundaries on other $p$-branes. The rules for when this can and cannot occur are derived from charge conservation. For example it is found that membranes in $d=11$ supergravity and IIA string theory can have boundaries on fivebranes.

We present a manifestly Lorentz invariant, space-time supersymmetric, and 'κ-invariant' world-volume action for all type II Dirichlet p-branes, p ≤ 9, in a general type II supergravity background, including massive backgrounds in the IIA case. The p =

Magnetically-enhanced open string pair production
We consider the stringy interaction between two parallel stacks of D3 branes placed at a separation. Each stack of D3 branes in a similar fashion carry an electric flux and a magnetic flux with the two sharing no common field strength index.

We present a large family of simple, explicit ten-dimensional supergravity solutions describing extended extremal supersymmetric Ramond-Ramond p-branes embedded into time-dependent dilaton-gravity plane waves of an arbitrary (isotropic) profile, with the brane world-volume aligned parallel to the propagation direction of the wave.

Gravitational lensing by p-branes [PDF]
The scattering of R-R gauge bosons off of Dirichlet p-branes is computed to leading order in the string coupling. The results are qualitatively similar to those found in the scattering of massless NS-NS bosons: all p-branes with p >= 0 exhibit stringy properties, in particular the Regge behavior. Both the R-R and NS-NS scattering amplitudes agree in

Stainless super p-branes [PDF]
The elementary and solitonic supersymmetric $p$-brane solutions to supergravity theories form families related by dimensional reduction, each headed by a maximal (`stainless') member that cannot be isotropically dimensionally oxidized into higher dimensions. We find several new families, headed by stainless solutions in various dimensions $D\le 9$.

Generalised cocycles and super $p$-branes
We study the cohomology (cocycles) of Lie superalgebras for the generalised complex of forms: superforms, pseudoforms and integral forms. We argue that these cocycles might be interpreted in the light of a new brane scan as generators of new higher-WZW terms and might provide new sources for supergravity.
