Radiation‐induced hypothyroidism follows head and neck radiotherapy due to oxidative stress and inflammation. Electrospun polycaprolactone scaffolds containing adenosine have potential to modulate thyroid repair. Scaffolds enhance thyrocyte proliferation, antioxidant enzymes glutathione peroxidase and catalase, reduce senescence and apoptosis markers ...

Molecular biology of esophageal adenocarcinoma (EAC) is not fully elucidated. The aim of this study was to assess the expression of cycle regulator and tumor suppressor p16 in esophageal adenocarcinoma. The expression of p16 at protein and gene level was

Morphologic and functional correlates of synaptic pathology in the cathepsin D knockout mouse model of congenital neuronal ceroid lipofuscinosis [PDF]
Mutations in the cathepsin D (CTSD) gene cause an aggressive neurodegenerative disease (congenital neuronal ceroid lipofuscinosis) that leads to early death. Recent evidence suggests that presynaptic abnormalities play a major role in the pathogenesis of

This Review focuses on assessing and providing perspective on the field of rationally‐designed optical sensors constructed with single‐walled carbon nanotubes. The literature is reviewed and evaluated for SWCNT‐based sensors constructed with biomolecular recognition elements, including proteins, peptides, and oligonucleotides, as well as their methods ...

p16INK4a is a major tumor-suppressor protein, but its regulation and settings of fuction remain poorly understood. To explore the notion that p16 is induced in vivo in response to replicative stress, we examined p16 expression in tissues from human ...

CDKN2a/p16 Antagonizes Hepatic Stellate Cell Activation and Liver Fibrosis by Modulating ROS Levels
The lipid-storage hepatic stellate cells (HSC) play as pivotal role in liver fibrosis being able to trans-differentiate into myofibroblasts in response to various pro-fibrogenic stimuli.

The sustainable growth of the first black holes [PDF]
Super-Eddington accretion has been suggested as a possible formation pathway of $10^9 \, M_\odot$ supermassive black holes (SMBHs) 800 Myr after the Big Bang.

Atorvastatin treatment modulates p16 promoter methylation to regulate p16 expression [PDF]
Intimal hyperplasia, the key event of arterial restenosis, is a result of cell proliferation and cell migration. Atorvastatin exerts an inhibitory effect on cell proliferation and migration, but the mechanism remains largely unknown. p16, as a well‐known tumor suppressor, was also reported to suppress cell growth and migration, but with an unclear ...

In this study, we find CD55+ neutrophils show activated NETosis within bone marrow, induce BMSC senescence and osteogenesis inhibition, finally leading to bone aging initiation. Mechanistically, ROS synergizes with the CD55‐driven HIF1α‐PADI4 pathway to promote NETosis.
