Acute lung inflammation and ventilator-induced lung injury caused by ATP via the P2Y receptors: an experimental study

open access: yesRespiratory Research, 2008
Background Extracellular adenosine 5'-triphosphate (ATP) is an endogenous signaling molecule involved in multiple biological phenomena, including inflammation. The effects of extracellular ATP in the lung have not been fully clarified.

A conserved circadian function for the Neurofibromatosis 1 gene [PDF]

open access: yes, 2018
Summary: Loss of the Neurofibromatosis 1 (Nf1) protein, neurofibromin, in Drosophila disrupts circadian rhythms of locomotor activity without impairing central clock function, suggesting effects downstream of the clock.

Coacervates Made of Elastin‐Like Polypeptides Fused with Melanocyte‐Stimulating Hormone and Monocyte Chemoattractant Protein Enhance Skin Wound Healing in Spinal Cord‐Injured Mice

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
Pressure skin wounds are frequent complications after spinal cord injury (SCI), with impaired healing due to vascular and immune deficits. Elastin‐like polypeptides (ELP) fused to α‐MSH (MSH‐ELP) or MCP‐1 (MCP‐ELP) are developed and tested on these wounds. The resulting nanoparticles are non‐toxic and bioactive, and they enhance macrophage recruitment,

P2 receptor web: Complexity and fine-tuning

open access: yesPharmacology & Therapeutics, 2006
The present review offers a new perspective on a family of receptors, termed P2 receptors, specific for nucleoside tri- and diphosphates of purines/pyrimidines. We emphasize here that while decoding the inputs of various related extracellular ligands, P2 receptors are a clear example of increasing biological complexity.

Biomimetic Copper Nanoparticles Coated with ACE2‐Overexpressing Membranes for Selective SARS‐CoV‐2 Neutralization and Disinfection

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
By fusing ACE2‐overexpressing membrane‐integrated liposome (MIL) with copper nanoparticles, the biomimetic Cu@MIL nanostructures were created that directly hijack the SARS‐CoV‐2 entry pathway. These particles combine potent virus‐targeting precision with intrinsic antiviral activity, achieving rapid neutralization and disinfection.

Expression and biological activity of two recombinant polypeptides related to subunit 1 of the interferon-a receptor

open access: yesBrazilian Journal of Medical and Biological Research, 2000
Abnormal production of interferon alpha (IFN-a) has been found in certain autoimmune diseases and can be also observed after prolonged therapy with IFN-a.

Protein associated with SMAD1 (PAWS1/FAM83G) is a substrate for type I bone morphogenetic protein receptors and modulates bone morphogenetic protein signalling [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
Bone morphogenetic proteins (BMPs) control multiple cellular processes in embryos and adult tissues. BMPs signal through the activation of type I BMP receptor kinases, which then phosphorylate SMADs 1/5/8.

Polyimide‐Linked Hexaazatriphenylene‐Based Porous Organic Polymer with Multiple Redox‐Active Sites as a High‐Capacity Organic Cathode for Lithium‐Ion Batteries

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
A high‐capacity polyimide‐linked porous organic polymer (HAT‐PTO) incorporating numerous redox‐active centers is synthesized via a hydrothermal reaction, delivering a high theoretical capacity of 484 mAh g−1. In situ hybridization with carboxyl‐functionalized multiwalled carbon nanotubes enhances conductivity and stability, achieving 397 mAh g−1 at C ...
