Experimental and Modeling Studies of Desensitization of P2X3 Receptors
Molecular Pharmacology, 2006The function of ATP-activated P2X3 receptors involved in pain sensation is modulated by desensitization, a phenomenon poorly understood. The present study used patch-clamp recording from cultured rat or mouse sensory neurons and kinetic modeling to clarify the properties of P2X3 receptor desensitization.

P2X3 receptor in injured human sensory neurons
NeuroReport, 2000The ATP-gated cation channel P2X3 is expressed selectively by rat sensory neurones, and may play a role in nociception by binding ATP released from damaged or inflamed tissues. However, the distribution of this channel in human sensory neurons is not known.

Evidence for P2X3 receptors in the developing rat brain
Neuroscience, 1998P2X receptor-mediated responses to the ATP analogue, alpha,beta-methylene ATP, in rat brain cannot be accounted for by the receptor proteins known to be present. Such experiments are often performed on cells from neonates and, since differential developmental regulation of P2X1 and P2X2 receptor messenger RNAs has already been demonstrated, this is ...

Potent desensitization of human P2X3 receptors by diadenosine polyphosphates
European Journal of Pharmacology, 2002In this study, the receptor desensitizing effects of diadenosine polyphosphates at recombinant human P2X3 (hP2X3) receptors were examined. Administration of Ap3A, Ap4A, Ap5A or Ap6A inhibited the hP2X3 receptor-mediated response to a subsequent application of 3 muM alphabeta-methyleneATP (alphabeta-meATP), in a concentration-dependent manner, with IC50

Nanomolar ambient ATP decelerates P2X3 receptor kinetics
Neuropharmacology, 2008Homomeric P2X receptors differ in their electrophysiological and pharmacological profiles. The rapidly activating and desensitizing P2X3 receptors are known for their involvement in pain signalling pathways. Modulatory effects on P2X3 receptors have been reported for low concentrations of ATP ([ATP]).

Developmentally regulated expression of the P2X3 receptor in the mouse cochlea
Histochemistry and Cell Biology, 2005ATP-gated non-selective cation channels assembled from P2X(3) receptor subunits contribute to transduction and neurotransmitter signaling in peripheral sensory systems and also feature prominently in the development of the central nervous system. In this study, P2X(3) receptor expression was characterized in the mouse cochlea from embryonic day 18 (E18)

P2X2 and P2X3 receptor expression in the gallbladder of the guinea pig
Autonomic Neuroscience, 2004We investigated for the first time, the distribution pattern of P2X2 and P2X3 receptors in the gallbladder of the guinea pig using immunohistochemistry. P2X2 and P2X3 receptor-immunoreactive nerve fibers were observed within the ganglia, in the interganglionic connectives, in the muscularis and in the paravascular plexus.

TEMPERATURE AND PH SENSITIVITY OF P2X3 RECEPTOR DESENSITIZATION
2020P2X3 receptors are widely expressed in the dorsal root ganglion (DRG) neurons responsible for primary sensory functions including nociception (Vulchanova et al., 1998). Knockout studies strongly linked P2X3 receptors to inflammatory pain, warm-coding and volume reflexes of the urinary bladder (Cockayne et al., 2000; Souslova et al., 2000b; Shimizu et ...
