Magnesium Enhances Immune Clearance of P. gingivalis in Macrophages by Suppressing MCU-Mediated Mitochondrial Calcium Overload. [PDF]
Magnesium restores macrophage clearance of P. gingivalis by inhibiting MCU‐mediated calcium overload. P. gingivalis is mainly phagocytosed by macrophages but escapes intracellular clearance via MCU‐mediated mitochondrial and cytosolic Ca2+ overload in periodontitis. The persistent P.

Antibody responses to Porphyromonas gingivalis (P. gingivalis) in subjects with rheumatoid arthritis and periodontitis [PDF]
Antibody titers to P. gingivalis are increased in patients with rheumatoid arthritis and are associated with disease-specific autoimmunity.Periodontitis (PD) has been implicated as a risk factor for rheumatoid arthritis (RA). We sought to characterize antibody titers to P.

Localization of P. gingivalis in Preterm Delivery Placenta [PDF]
Increasing evidence suggests an association between periodontal disease and adverse pregnancy outcomes. Although infection is considered as a risk factor for preterm delivery, the localization of oral bacteria or their antigens in chorioamnionitis placental tissue has never been demonstrated.

The P. gingivalis Autocitrullinome Is Not a Target for ACPA in Early Rheumatoid Arthritis [PDF]
Rheumatoid arthritis (RA), a chronic inflammatory disease affecting primarily the joints, is frequently characterized by the presence of autoimmune anticitrullinated protein antibodies (ACPA) during preclinical stages of disease and accumulation of hypercitrullinated proteins in arthritic joints.

Antimicrobial and anti-inflammatory activity of Cystatin C on human gingival fibroblast incubated with Porphyromonas gingivalis [PDF]
Background Periodontal disease is considered one of the most prevalent chronic infectious diseases, often leading to the disruption of tooth-supporting tissues, including alveolar bone, causing tooth mobility and loss.

Platelet aggregation promoted by biofilms of oral bacteria and the effect of mouth rinses in vitro
Introduction: The purpose of this study was to observe platelet aggregation promoted by biofilms of Streptococcus sanguinis and Porphyromonas gingivalis and to evaluate the effect of two different mouth rinses on this process.

Structure and Biosynthesis of Mangotoxin Produced by the Plant Pathogen Pseudomonas syringae
The structure of mangotoxin remained elusive for over two decades. Here, mangotoxin was isolated from the native producer, Pseudomonas syringae pv. syringae, and was determined to be an alkyne‐containing dipeptide. Mangotoxin inhibited the growth of multidrug‐resistant human pathogen Klebsiella pneumoniae.

Ulcerative Colitis (UC) has been reported to be related to Porphyromonas gingivalis (P. gingivalis). Porphyromonas gingivalis peptidylarginine deiminase (PPAD), a virulence factor released by P. gingivalis, is known to induce inflammatory responses.

Structure and Function of a Multi‐Megadalton Virus‐Like Proteolytic Dodecahedron
Zuzalysin, a virulence metallopeptidase of the periodontal pathogen Porphyromonas gingivalis, is secreted as a latent, flexible ≈95‐kDa monomer. Calcium triggers cysteine‐switch activation and hierarchical assembly into pentamers, bipentamers, tripentamers, and a ≈5.6‐MDa, ≈355‐Å dodecahedron. Structures at 1.8–3.6 Å reveal a virus‐sized catalytic cage
