Calpain small subunit homodimerization is robust and calcium‐independent
Calpains dimerize via penta‐EF‐hand (PEF) domains. Using single‐molecule force spectroscopy, we measured the strength and kinetics of PEF–PEF homodimer binding. The interaction is robust, shows a transient conformational step before dissociation, and remains largely insensitive to Ca2+.

X-ray Absorption Spectroscopy Investigations on Oxidized Ni/Au Contacts to p-GaN [PDF]
[[abstract]]X-ray absorption spectroscopy was used to investigate the electronic structure of as-deposited and oxidized Ni/Au contacts to p-GaN and to elucidate the mechanism responsible for low impedance.

On the sub-supersolution principle for p(x)-Laplacian equations
This paper deals with the sub-supersolution method for the p(x) -Laplacian Dirichlet problem. A sub-supersolution principle for the Dirichlet problems involving the p(x)-Laplacian is established by using induction method.

Structural insights into an engineered feruloyl esterase with improved MHET degrading properties
A feruloyl esterase was engineered to mimic key features of MHETase, enhancing the degradation of PET oligomers. Structural and computational analysis reveal how a point mutation stabilizes the active site and reshapes the binding cleft, expading substrate scope.

Correlation and time delays of the X-ray and optical emission of the Seyfert Galaxy NGC 3783 [PDF]
We present simultaneous X-ray and optical B- and V-band light curves of the Seyfert Galaxy NGC 3783 spanning 2 years. The flux in all bands is highly variable and the fluctuations are significantly correlated. As shown before by Stirpe et al. the optical

16O(n,α) cross section investigation using LENZ instrument at LANSCE
Importance of studying the 16O(n,α) reaction is motivated by multiple nuclear applications. The Los Alamos Neutron Science Center (LANSCE) produces a white neutron spectrum ranging from thermal to several hundreds of MeV energies.

This article deals with the identification of reported speech in journalistic texts when it takes the form of P, dit X / P, X says. It raises the question of the boundaries between narrative and reported clause due to a cluster of elements: the reported ...

Hyperosmotic stress induces PARP1‐mediated HPF1‐dependent mono(ADP‐ribosyl)ation
Sorbitol‐induced hyperosmotic stress rapidly induces reversible mono(ADP‐ribosyl)ation (MARylation) on PARP1 without the signs of genotoxic signaling. We show that PARP1 autoMARylation is HPF1 dependent and forms hydroxylamine‐resistant O‐glycosidic linkages.

Synchrotron X-ray topographic analysis of the impact of processing steps on the fabrication of AlGaAs/InGaAs p-HEMT's [PDF]
Synchrotron X-Ray Topography (SXRT) has been uniquely applied to nondestructively reveal and evaluate the damage throughout the depth of the wafer, caused by the deposition of source/gate/drain metallization and of so-called “passivation” dielectric ...
