Integrated biomarker response in signal crayfish Pacifastacus leniusculus exposed to diphenhydramine.

SSRN Electronic Journal, 2022
Diphenhydramine (DPH) is a pharmaceutical with multiple modes of action, primarily designed as an antihistamine therapeutic drug. Among antihistamines, DPH is a significant contaminant in the environment, frequently detected in surface waters, sediments,

Toxicological effects of diclofenac on signal crayfish (Pacifastacus leniusculus) as related to weakly acidic and basic water pH.

Aquatic Toxicology, 2023
The widespread use and continuous discharge of pharmaceuticals to environmental waters can lead to potential toxicity to aquatic biota. Pharmaceuticals and their metabolites are often complex organic and environmentally persistent compounds that are ...

Finding of the American Signal Crayfish Pacifastacus leniusculus (Decapoda: Astacidae) in the Leningrad Region (Russia)

Биология внутренних вод, 2023
The American signal crayfish Pacifastacus leniusculus (Dana, 1852) was first found in the lake Zaprudnoye of the Saimaa Canal system between lake Saimaa (Finland) and Vyborgsky Bay (Russia).

Host-related traits influence the microbial diversity of the invasive signal crayfish Pacifastacus leniusculus.

Journal of Invertebrate Pathology, 2023
The microbiome influences a variety of host-environment interactions, and there is mounting evidence of its significant role in biological invasions.

Pacifastacus leniusculus

2020
Signal crayfish Pacifastacus leniusculus (Dana, 1852) Signal crayfish were introduced into Latvia from Lithuania in 1983 and 1984 and released into Primmas Lake in 1983-1985 (Mjasischev 1991). They were raised in a fish farm on the Gauja’s tributary, the Brasla, from which it entered this river.

Predicting invasive signal crayfish (Pacifastacus leniusculus) spread using a traditional survey and river network simulation

Rivers Research and Applications: an international journal devoted to river research and management, 2022
Rivers are among the most vulnerable ecosystems to biological invasions. After introduction, predicting the timing and magnitude of population growth and range expansion is critical to decision making on where management tactics will be most efficient ...

Scope for activity in the crayfish Pacifastacus leniusculus

American Journal of Physiology-Regulatory, Integrative and Comparative Physiology, 1981
The scope for activity of the crayfish Pacifastacus leniusculus was determined between 5 and 30 degrees C (incipient lethal of 33 degrees C). Standard oxygen consumption rate (VO2) ws low (e.g., 17 ml x kg-1 x h-1 at 20 degrees C); and it increased with temperature over the entire range (Q10 = 2.09 for 5-25 degrees C).

A Pacifastacus leniusculus serine protease interacts with WSSV

Fish & Shellfish Immunology, 2017
Serine proteases are involved in many critical physiological processes including virus spread and replication. In the present study, we identified a new clip-domain serine protease (PlcSP) in the crayfish Pacifastacus leniusculus hemocytes, which can interact with the White Spot Syndrome Virus (WSSV) envelope protein VP28.

Sterol requirement of cultured juvenile crayfish, Pacifastacus leniusculus

Aquaculture, 1985
Abstract Changes in the sterol composition of an extruded diet revealed that juvenile Pacifastacus leniusculus requires at least 0.4% (dry weight) of dietary sterols for survival. A mixture of plant-derived sterols (phytosterols) is as effective as an equal amount of cholesterol in the partial satisfaction of the requirement. The experimental diet
