Time Toxicity in Wilms Tumor: Quantifying the Burden of Healthcare Interaction in the First Year After Diagnosis

open access: yesPediatric Blood &Cancer, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background Wilms tumor (WT) treatment imposes a significant time burden on patients and their families. Time toxicity is a patient‐centered metric that quantifies the burden of healthcare interaction. We sought to define time toxicity in the first year after diagnosis of WT and hypothesized that it would increase as tumor stage and treatment ...

Coronavirus genome packaging and nucleocapsid assembly

open access: yesJournal of Virology
Coronaviruses are a family of positive-strand RNA viruses that exhibit highly selective packaging of their genomic RNA (gRNA) into assembled virions, despite the presence of a large excess of subgenomic viral RNA species and host RNA in infected cells ...

A possible packaging signal in the rotavirus genome

open access: yesGenes & Genetic Systems, 2014
Group A rotavirus (RVA), an etiological agent of gastroenteritis in young mammals and birds, possesses a genome of 11 double-stranded RNA segments. Although it is believed that the RVA virion contains one copy of each genomic segment and that the positive-strand RNA (+RNA) is incorporated into the core shell, the packaging mechanisms of RVA are not ...

Increased Risk of Sarcomas in Children With Congenital Anomalies: Findings From the Genetic Overlap Between Anomalies and Cancer in Kids (GOBACK) Registry Linkage Study

open access: yesPediatric Blood &Cancer, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background Pediatric sarcomas are a heterogeneous group of tumors that contribute disproportionately to cancer mortality in children. Although congenital anomalies are among the strongest known risk factors for childhood cancer, the risk of specific sarcoma subtypes among affected individuals has not yet been thoroughly evaluated. Procedure We

Novel ways of using tobacco packaging to communicate health messages: Interviews with packaging and marketing experts

open access: yes, 2016
Background: Packaging is a powerful communications tool. In this study innovative ways in which cigarette packaging could potentially be used to communicate health messages, beyond the on-pack warnings and plain packaging, were explored. Methods: Face-to-

Visualizing Viral RNA Packaging Signals in Action

open access: yesJournal of Molecular Biology
Here we confirm, using genome-scale RNA fragments in assembly competition assays, that multiple sub-sites (Packaging Signals, PSs) across the 5' two-thirds of the gRNA of Satellite Tobacco Necrosis Virus-1 make sequence-specific contacts to the viral CPs helping to nucleate formation of its T = 1 virus-like particle (VLP).

Supporting Survivor‐Centered Care Through Digital Health Integration

open access: yesPediatric Blood &Cancer, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Survivors of childhood cancer face barriers to receiving guideline‐based, long‐term follow‐up care. Two digital tools, Passport for Care (PFC) and Cancer SurvivorLink (SurvivorLink), address complementary gaps by enabling tailored survivorship care plan (SCP) generation, updating, storage, and sharing.
