Effects of pandan aqueous extract on physico-chemical properties of normal and waxy rice starches [PDF]

open access: yesMATEC Web of Conferences, 2018
Pandan aqueous extract (PAE) has traditionally been used as a food additive in Southeast Asia to enhance their flavor, color and health benefits. The purpose of this research was to investigate the effects of PAE on physico-chemical properties of normal ...

Pulse-field-gel-electrophoresis development for Salmonella species using PaeR7 I enzyme [PDF]

open access: yes, 2007
Pulse field gel electrophoresis (PFGE) currently has been preformed on 22 Salmonella spp. isolates using a new method that distinguishes between different species of Salmonella and gives reproducible results using Pae R7 1 enzyme.

Peroxidasin enables melanoma immune escape by inhibiting natural killer cell cytotoxicity

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Peroxidasin (PXDN) is secreted by melanoma cells and binds the NK cell receptor NKG2D, thereby suppressing NK cell activation and cytotoxicity. PXDN depletion restores NKG2D signaling and enables effective NK cell–mediated melanoma killing. These findings identify PXDN as a previously unrecognized immune evasion factor and a potential target to improve

Digital Detection of Oxide Breakdown and Life-Time Extension in Submicron CMOS Technology [PDF]

open access: yes, 2008
An approach is introduced to extend the lifetime of high-voltage analog circuits in CMOS technologies based on redundancy, like that known for DRAMS. A large power transistor is segmented into N smaller ones in parallel. If a sub-transistor is broken, it

YlmG1 is localized exclusively to the chloroplast envelope membrane and is involved in preprotein translocation in Arabidopsis thaliana

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Cytosolically synthesized chloroplast preproteins are translocated across the outer and inner envelope membranes through translocons called TOC and TIC, respectively. In green algae and plants, the TIC core is composed of essential membrane proteins, Tic12, Tic20, and Tic214.

Recent applications of isotope analysis to forensic anthropology

open access: yesForensic Sciences Research, 2019
Isotope analysis has become an increasingly valuable tool in forensic anthropology casework over the past decade. Modern-day isotopic investigations on human remains have integrated the use of multi-isotope profiles (e.g.

Minimal rights based solidarity [PDF]

open access: yes, 2009
In a model where individuals with different levels of skills exert different levels of effort, we propose to use individuals' minimal rights to divide an extra amount of income generated by a change in the skill profile.

A Depolarizing Leak in Sodium Bicarbonate Cotransporter NBCe1 Causes Brain Edema

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Objectives SLC4A4 encodes electrogenic sodium bicarbonate cotransporter NBCe1, prominently expressed in kidney and brain. Recessive loss‐of‐function variants in SLC4A4 cause proximal renal tubular acidosis, no brain edema. In the brain, NBCe1 is expressed by astrocytes, where it regulates pH and mediates astrocyte volume changes.
