A phylogenetic analysis of the 5.8S rDNA and internal transcribed spacer (ITS1 and ITS2) sequences from some entomogenous Paecilomyces species supports the polyphyly of the genus and showed the existence of cryptic species.

Galactomannans from the cell walls of species of Paecilomyces sect. Paecilomyces and their teleomorphs as immunotaxonomic markers [PDF]
An alkali-extractable and water-soluble fraction (F1S) was obtained from cell walls of Paecilomyces variotii and species of the related genera Talaromyces, Byssochlamys and Thermoascus. The structure of the main polysaccharide of these fractions was studied and found to consist of a core of (1 --> 6)-alpha-mannopyranose partially substituted at 0.2 by ...

Vertical Zonal Distribution Patterns of Entomopathogenic Fungi in the Changbai Mountain [PDF]
Entomopathogenic fungi (EPF) distribution was divided into high‐ and low‐elevation patterns. EPF species diversity in the same vegetation belt was unaffected by altitude. EPF tended to evolve toward broadleaved forest habitats. ABSTRACT Entomopathogenic fungi (EPF) are critical drivers of ecosystem processes such as pest regulation and material cycling.

RecalcitrantPaecilomyceskeratitis
A 54-year-old Caucasian woman presented with corneal ulcer of the right eye of 4 weeks duration after scratching her cornea while removing her contact lens and artificial eye lashes. Her visual acuity was 20/32 (left eye) and finger counting (right eye). She had a 3x3 mm epithelial defect with underlying corneal oedema and hypopyon.

Postoperative keratitis due to Paecilomyces: a rare pediatric case
Fungal infections like Paecilomyces keratitis have emerged in childhood recently. The diagnosis and treatment of Paecilomyces keratitis is difficult and the outcome is usually poor.

Paecilomyces pyelonephritis in a patient with urolithiasis
Fungal organisms are increasingly implicated in nosocomial urinary tract infections. Although Candida, Mucor and Aspergillus are the most commonly identified species, rare fungi are also occasionally observed to infect humans. Misidentification of the organism could result in treatment with an inappropriate antifungal agent, which could result in a ...
