Paeoniflorin protects against concanavalin A-induced hepatitis in mice

International Immunopharmacology, 2015
Paeoniflorin (PF) is one of the main effective components of the total glucosides of peony, which has been reported to have anti-inflammatory ability. However, the effects of paeoniflorin on concanavalin A (Con A)-induced hepatitis have not been carefully examined.

Preparation, physicochemical characterization and pharmacokinetics of paeoniflorin-phospholipid complex

Bio-Medical Materials and Engineering, 2019
In order to enhance lipophilicity and oral bioavailability of paeoniflorin (PF), this study developed paeoniflorin-phospholipid complex (PF-PLC) by solvent-evaporation method. The optimum preparation technology of PF-PLC was screened by the combination of single factor and orthogonal experiment.

Paeoniflorin acts as a liver X receptor agonist

Journal of Asian Natural Products Research, 2013
Paeoniflorin is one of the active ingredients of Paeonia lactiflora Pall., a novel traditional herbal medicine exerting pharmacological effects including antihyperlipidemic, neuroprotective, and anti-hepatofibrosis effects. Liver X receptor (LXR) acts as a ligand-activated transcription factor to exhibit antihyperlipidemic and neuroprotective effects ...

[Determination of paeoniflorin in Huoxuezhuyu powder].

Guang pu xue yu guang pu fen xi = Guang pu, 2010
Thin-layer chromatogram was used to separate paeoniflorin from other compositions in Huoxuezhuyu powder. The content was determined by UV spectrophotometry. The mean recovery was 98.74%, and CV was 1.43%. This method could be used for other compound preparations of traditional Chinese medicines.

Paeoniflorin prevents diabetic nephropathy in rats.

Comparative medicine, 2010
The aim of this study was to test the hypothesis that paeoniflorin prevents the progression of diabetic nephropathy by modulating the inflammatory process. Sprague-Dawley rats were divided into 5 groups: nondiabetic control rats; untreated diabetic model (DM) rats; and DM rats treated with 5, 10, or 20 mg/kg paeoniflorin in drinking water once daily ...

Comparative pharmacokinetics of paeoniflorin in plasma of vascular dementia and normal rats orally administrated with Danggui-Shaoyao-San or pure paeoniflorin

Fitoterapia, 2011
Danggui-Shaoyao-San (DSS), a traditional Chinese medicinal prescription, is clinically used for the treatment of vascular dementia (VD). This study compared the pharmacokinetics of paeoniflorin, the main active ingredients in Paeonia lactiflora Pall, in VD and normal rats administrated with DSS or pure paeoniflorin.

Contents of paeoniflorin and albiflorin in two Korean landraces of Paeonia lactiflora and characterization of paeoniflorin biosynthesis genes in peony

Genes & Genomics
Paeoniflorin and albiflorin are monoterpene glycosides that exhibit various medicinal properties in Paeonia species. This study explored the terpene biosynthesis pathway and analyzed the distribution of these compounds in different tissues of two Korean landraces of Paeonia lactiflora to gain insights into the biosynthesis of monoterpene glycosides in ...
