Synthesis and antioxidant activity of paeoniflorin derivatives
Bioorganic ChemistryPaeoniflorin has multiple protective effects on the nervous system. However, its low bioavailability limits the exertion of its efficacy. In this study, a series of esterified derivatives of the alkyl groups of paeoniflorin were designed and synthesized through the strategies of group protection and alkyl acylation.

Effects of veratrine and paeoniflorin on the isolated rat aorta
Journal of Ethnopharmacology, 1999The interactions and mechanisms between veratrine and paeoniflorin on the isolated rat aorta were studied. Veratrine (1x10(-6) to 1x10(-4) g/ml) could induce contraction on the isolated rat aorta in a concentration-related manner. Paeoniflorin had no effect on the isolated rat aorta.

Metabolism of paeoniflorin by rat intestinal flora in vitro
China Journal of Chinese Materia Medica, 2016In order to clarify the effect of intestinal flora on the absorption and metabolism of paeoniflorin in vivo, the metabolism of paeoniflorin by rat intestinal flora was studied under the in vitro anaerobic condition. Paeoniflorin was incubated with rat anaerobic intestinal flora for 48 h, and UPLC was used to detect the changes of paeoniflorin at ...

Paeoniflorin inhibited GSDMD to alleviate ANIT-induced cholestasis via pyroptosis signaling pathway.
PhytomedicineBACKGROUND Cholestasis (CT) is a group of disorders caused by impaired production, secretion or excretion of bile. This may result in the deposition of bile components in the blood and liver, which in turn causes damage to liver cells and other tissues ...

[Progressive studies of paeoniflorin].
Zhongguo Zhong yao za zhi = Zhongguo zhongyao zazhi = China journal of Chinese materia medica, 2009Paeoniflorin is one of the bioactive components of Paeonia lactiflora, a traditional Chinese herbal medicine. It is the main monoterpene glucoside isolated from the P. lactiflora in 1963. Since then, researchers have found that paeoniflorin has multifold pharmacological effects.

Paeoniflorin and albiflorin are monoterpene glycosides that exhibit various medicinal properties in Paeonia species. This study explored the terpene biosynthesis pathway and analyzed the distribution of these compounds in different tissues of two Korean landraces of Paeonia lactiflora to gain insights into the biosynthesis of monoterpene glycosides in ...
