This study identifies palmitoylation as a novel regulatory modification of SMAD4, mediated by ZDHHC22/APT2. It activates fatty acid synthesis, creating a self‐reinforcing SMAD4–FASN–palmitate feedback loop that drives pancreatic cancer growth and enhances radiotherapy sensitivity.

Prognostic Value of Plasminogen Activator Inhibitors in Breast Cancer
The prognosis of cancer is primarily dependent on its potential to invade and metastasize. Data from both pre-clinical and clinical studies strongly suggest that serine proteases, as well as their inhibitors and receptor, play a central role in the ...

Interactive Effect of PAI-1 4G/5G Genotype and Salt Intake on PAI-1 Antigen [PDF]
Abstract —Activation of the renin-angiotensin-aldosterone system (RAAS) is associated with increased circulating PAI-1 antigen and increased risk of thrombotic cardiovascular events. A 4G/5G polymorphism located 675 bp upstream from the transcription start site of the PAI-1 gene affects PAI-1 antigen ...

High-intensity interval training modulates thrombotic susceptibility in metabolic syndrome: Attenuation of plasma PAI-1 and fibrinogen via ameliorated metabolic dysfunction [PDF]
Metabolic syndrome (MetS) elevates thrombotic risk through dysregulated coagulation factors, including plasminogen activator inhibitor-1 (PAI-1) and fibrinogen, driven by visceral adiposity and metabolic dysfunction.

Plasminogen activator inhibitor‐1 (PAI‐1) is an endogenous irreversible inhibitor of tissue‐type (tPA) and urokinase (uPA) plasminogen activators. PAI‐1‐targeted fibrinolytic therapy (PAI‐1‐TFT) is designed to decrease the therapeutic dose of tPA and uPA,

A bifunctional lactate oxidase‐like and catalase‐like artificial enzyme (Metazyme) is integrated into a rod‐shaped microgel (MetaRgel) to enable cascade lactate oxidation and oxygen regeneration. By reprogramming the wound metabolic microenvironment, MetaRgel alleviates excessive lactate accumulation, oxidative stress, hypoxia, and inflammation ...

Lipoatrophy of the footpad in HIV-treated patients is associated with increased PAI-1 [PDF]
Purpose: To describe lipoatrophy of the plantar pedis fat pads in HIV patients with or without long-term antiretroviral therapy (ART); to compare the characteristics of ART patients with and without plantar pedis lipoatrophy; and to examine the effects ...
