Concreteness and encoding instructions in paired-associate transfer [PDF]

open access: yesBulletin of the Psychonomic Society, 1977
Subjects were instructed to use either different mnemonics (compound images or verbal combinations) on List 1 and List 2 in an A-B, A-Br transfer paradigm, or to use the same type of nmemonic strategy for both tasks. Compared to A-B, C-B control subjects who were similarly instructed, there was no evidence that switching the type of elaborative ...

The (Glg)ABCs of cyanobacteria: modelling of glycogen synthesis and functional divergence of glycogen synthases in Synechocystis sp. PCC 6803

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We reconstituted Synechocystis glycogen synthesis in vitro from purified enzymes and showed that two GlgA isoenzymes produce glycogen with different architectures: GlgA1 yields denser, highly branched glycogen, whereas GlgA2 synthesizes longer, less‐branched chains.

Organ‐specific redox imbalances in spinal muscular atrophy mice are partially rescued by SMN antisense oligonucleotides

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We identified a systemic, progressive loss of protein S‐glutathionylation—detected by nonreducing western blotting—alongside dysregulation of glutathione‐cycle enzymes in both neuronal and peripheral tissues of Taiwanese SMA mice. These alterations were partially rescued by SMN antisense oligonucleotide therapy, revealing persistent redox imbalance as ...

Subword Embedding dengan Pendekatan Byte Pair Encoding dan Morfologi Bahasa Indonesia

open access: yes, 2021
The conventional word embedding method treats words as the smallest independent entity unit and ignores word's internal structure. This causes the embedding unable to handle out of Vocabulary (OOV) and unable to capture the explicit relationship ...

TO3: A Compact and Efficient Encoding Scheme for Skewed Slicing Floorplans in VLSI Design

open access: yesITEGAM-JETIA
A slicing floorplan is a recursive process of drawing a floorplan horizontally and vertically until all the blocks are accommodate into it. In the nanometer era, the escalating transistor density in VLSI chips underscores the necessity of designing ...

Dopamine and opioid systems interact within the nucleus accumbens to maintain monogamous pair bonds

open access: yeseLife, 2016
Prairie vole breeder pairs form monogamous pair bonds, which are maintained through the expression of selective aggression toward novel conspecifics.

Transferrin receptor 1‐mediated iron uptake supports thermogenic activation in human cervical‐derived adipocytes

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
In this study, we found that human cervical‐derived adipocytes maintain intracellular iron level by regulating the expression of iron transport‐related proteins during adrenergic stimulation. Melanotransferrin is predicted to interact with transferrin receptor 1 based on in silico analysis.

Computational Scaling of Shape Similarity That has Potential for Neuromorphic Implementation

open access: yesIEEE Access, 2018
Current methods for encoding and comparing shapes are computationally demanding and are not suitable for image processing in small portable devices. Here, we describe a simple scan encoding method for transcribing shape information into a 1-D summary ...

Tau acetylation at K331 has limited impact on tau pathology in vivo

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We mapped tau post‐translational modifications in humanized MAPT knock‐in mice and in amyloid‐bearing double knock‐in mice. Acetylation within the repeat domain, particularly around K331, showed modest increases under amyloid pathology. To test functional relevance, we generated MAPTK331Q knock‐in mice.

Bi-frontal transcranial alternating current stimulation in the ripple range reduced overnight forgetting

open access: yesFrontiers in Cellular Neuroscience, 2015
High frequency oscillations in the hippocampal structures recorded during sleep have been proved to be essential for long-term episodic memory consolidation in both animals and in humans.
