Liver Stiffness Rises Early in MASLD and Drives Inflammation, Lipid Dysmetabolism, and Fibrosis via Piezo1–YAP Mechanotransduction

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Progressive stiffening of the hepatic extracellular matrix and free fatty acid overload activate the mechanosensor Piezo1 in steatotic hepatocytes, inducing calcium influx and nuclear translocation of Yes‐associated protein. YAP‐dependent nuclear signaling further drives inflammatory and fibrotic gene programs, lipid metabolic reprogramming, and ...

CYP52X1, representing new cytochrome P450 subfamily, displays fatty acid hydroxylase activity and contributes to virulence and growth on insect cuticular substrates in entomopathogenic fungus Beauveria bassiana [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
Infection of insects by the entomopathogenic fungus Beauveria bassiana proceeds via attachment and penetration of the host cuticle. The outermost epicuticular layer or waxy layer of the insect represents a structure rich in lipids including abundant ...

Fatty acids from soybeans: compatibility with Panonychus citri (Acari: Tetranychidae) and its two predators☆

open access: yesOilseeds and fats, crops and lipids
Soybean oil is a significant alternative to synthetic chemicals for environmentally friendly and sustainable pest control. This study evaluated soybean oil and its fatty acids (palmitic, oleic, and stearic acids; individually) for their acaricidal and ...

PIK3CA Mutations Downregulate PPT1 to Promote Adipogenesis by Suppressing P300 Depalmitoylation and Phase Separation

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This study demonstrates that somatic PIK3CA mutations suppress PPT1 expression via activation of the PI3K–AKT–c‐JUN axis. This reduction in PPT1 weakens its interaction with P300, thereby increasing palmitoylation at C1176 of P300 and protecting P300 from lysosomal degradation.

Correlation between percentage of palmitic acid in adipose tissue and serum cholesterol level in patients with multiple sclerosis

open access: yesJournal of Lipid Research, 1969
To investigate mechanisms controlling the concentration of serum cholesterol we studied its relationship to the proportions of fatty acids in the lipids of adipose tissue of patients with multiple sclerosis.

Guidelines for the Anti‐Obesity Assays of Food Bioactives in Caenorhabditis elegans

open access: yesAgriFood: Journal of Agricultural Products for Food, EarlyView.
This Guideline uses Caenorhabditis elegans as a model organism to systematically explain and summarize the research strategies and experimental methods for the anti‐obesity effects of food bioactives. ABSTRACT The obesity has become a global public health problem and is closely related to a variety of chronic diseases.
