Differently localized lysophosphatidic acid acyltransferases crucial for triacylglycerol biosynthesis in the oleaginous alga Nannochloropsis

open access: yesThe Plant Journal, Volume 90, Issue 3, Page 547-559, May 2017., 2017
Summary The production of renewable bioenergy will be necessary to meet rising global fossil fuel demands. Members of the marine microalgae genus Nannochloropsis produce large quantities of oils (triacylglycerols; TAGs), and this genus is regarded as one of the most promising for biodiesel production. Recent genome sequencing and transcriptomic studies

Clustering of Rainfall Stations in RH‐24 Mexico Region Using the Hurst Exponent in Semivariograms

open access: yesMathematical Problems in Engineering, Volume 2015, Issue 1, 2015., 2015
An important topic in the study of the time series behavior and, in particular, meteorological time series is the long‐range dependence. This paper explores the behavior of rainfall variations in different periods, using long‐range correlations analysis.

Fossil freshwater fishes from the Pliocene of northern Colombia and the palaeogeography of northern South America

open access: yesPapers in Palaeontology, Volume 12, Issue 4, July/August 2026.
Abstract Freshwater fishes from the northwestern Colombian Andes are reported from the Pliocene Sincelejo and Ware formations. A total of 10 taxa have been identified, involving two orders, five families and nine genera. Characters from dental morphology, fin spines and cranial bones are provided as taxonomic tools for the study of fossil fishes.

Use and Diversity of Palm (Arecaceae) Resources in Central Western Brazil

open access: yesThe Scientific World Journal, Volume 2014, Issue 1, 2014., 2014
Arecaceae Schultz‐Sch. (Palmae Juss.), a member of the monocotyledon group, is considered one of the oldest extant angiosperm families on Earth. This family is highly valuable because of its species diversity, its occurrence in a wide range of habitats, and its status as an integral part of the culture and the family‐based economy of many traditional ...

Mycorrhizal Interactions for Reforestation: Constraints to Dryland Agroforest in Brazil

open access: yesInternational Scholarly Research Notices, Volume 2011, Issue 1, 2011., 2011
Reforestation provides restoration of forest ecosystem services including improved soil fertility, which leads to increased productivity and/or sustainability of the system. Trees also increase the average carbon stocks providing wood supply for local communities; however, C sequestration strategies highlight tree plantations without considering their ...

From fertilizer to insecticide: urban leaf litter chemistry alters the survival landscape of Aedes aegypti

open access: yesPest Management Science, Volume 82, Issue 4, Page 3395-3407, April 2026.
Chemical profiling and bioassays reveal that leaf‐litter leachates from urban trees flip between nourishing and killing Aedes aegypti larvae: dilute Tipuana tipu boosts growth, whereas concentrated, aged extracts are >90% lethal. Species‐specific chemistry thus turns street trees into potential self‐renewing tools for integrated vector control ...
