An epithelial GPR35 isoform supports tumor‐associated transcriptional and metabolic phenotypes

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
GPR35 generates two functionally distinct isoforms with previously unresolved roles. GPR35‐short mediates immune‐cell chemotaxis, while GPR35‐long is enriched in colorectal cancer epithelium, where it supports increased metabolism, proliferation, and tumor‐associated transcriptional programs.

panX: pan-genome analysis and exploration [PDF]

open access: yesNucleic Acids Research, 2016
Horizontal transfer, gene loss, and duplication result in dynamic bacterial genomes shaped by a complex mixture of different modes of evolution. Closely related strains can differ in the presence or absence of many genes, and the total number of distinct genes found in a set of related isolates – the pan-genome – is often many times ...

Pan-genome analysis of Seep-SRB2 metagenomes.

open access: yes, 2023
Nineteen genomes from eight Seep-SRB1a species were analyzed using the Anvi’o pan-genome analysis pipeline [45]. Three gene cluster bins were annotated based on genes that were identified as part of the core metagenome, present in Seep-SRB2 sp.

Structure‐forward targeting of claudins with synthetic binders

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Claudins form the paracellular barriers between epithelial and endothelial tissues at tight junctions and are targets for molecular binders with the goal of modulating barrier permeability. Claudin‐binding molecules are relevant in drug delivery or in altering claudin interactions with disease‐causing proteins.

Towards comparative pan-genomics

open access: yes, 2020
Comparative genomics investigates the genomic makeup of species to unravel their unique variations and evolutionary relationships. High-throughput sequencing technologies have enabled reading the DNA content of a wide variety of species at an unprecedented rate.
