Cerium Nanoparticle‐Mediated Inhibition of the NSUN2/m5C Axis Suppresses Synovial Aggression in Rheumatoid Arthritis

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
A novel epitranscriptomic mechanism in rheumatoid arthritis is uncovered: NSUN2 promotes disease via m5C‐dependent stabilization of ICMT mRNA, fueling the migration and invasion of pathogenic RA FLS. Targeting this axis with engineered nanoparticles (Ce/SAA NPs) effectively inhibits disease progression, presenting a precise therapeutic strategy ...

Symptoms, burden, and unmet needs of patients living with exocrine pancreatic insufficiency: a narrative review of the patient experience

open access: yesBMC Gastroenterology
Exocrine pancreatic insufficiency (EPI) stems from a deficiency of functional pancreatic enzymes with consequent maldigestion and malnutrition. EPI shares clinical symptoms and manifestations with other disorders and is a considerable burden to ...

Bioengineered Exosome‐Loaded Immunomodulatory Bioadhesive Spray Reverses Liver Fibrosis and Metabolic Dysfunction That Triggers Beneficial Gut‐Liver Crosstalk in Chronic Fatty Liver Disease

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Umbilical cord stem cell‐derived exosomes encapsulated in an immunomodulatory bioadhesive hydrogel spray enable localized therapy, sustained vesicle delivery, macrophage polarization, suppress systemic inflammation, and mitigate glucose and insulin homeostasis impairments in MAFLD.

Outcomes of Post-pancreatic Enzyme Replacement Therapy in Patients of Pancreatic Exocrine Insufficiency: A Prospective Observational Study [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Clinical and Diagnostic Research
Introduction: Exocrine pancreatic insufficiency is a significant clinical condition with underlying multifactorial aetiologies. Pancreatic Enzyme Replacement Therapy (PERT) is helpful in improving certain clinical conditions such as chronic pancreatitis,

CXCL10/SLC11A1 Axis Exacerbates Septic Liver Injury by Regulating Neutrophil Extracellular Traps Formation to Drive Macrophage Pro‑Inflammatory Polarization

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
In sepsis‐induced liver injury, marked neutrophil infiltration correlates with disease severity. Neutrophil SLC11A1 drives intracellular Fe2+ and ROS via the Fenton reaction, promoting NETs formation. Hepatocyte‐derived CXCL10 recruits neutrophils and activates the JAK/STAT1/SLC11A1 axis, enhancing NETs‐mediated inflammation.

A Spatially Directed Microneedle Patch Enables Intratumoral Co‐Delivery of FOLFIRINOX, Surufatinib, and Anti‐PD‐1 for Chemo‐Immunotherapy of Pancreatic Ductal Adenocarcinoma

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
A double‐layered shell‐core microneedle patch is developed to co‐deliver FOLFIRINOX, surufatinib, and anti‐PD‐1 for localized chemo‐immunotherapy of PDAC. This strategy achieves sustained tumor suppression, reduces metastasis, and reprograms the TME by enhancing CD8+ T‐cell infiltration and inhibiting Tregs and M2 macrophages infiltration, while ...

Gut microbiota–derived short‐chain fatty acids regulate group 3 innate lymphoid cells in HCC

open access: yesHepatology, EarlyView., 2022
Abstract Background and Aims Type 3 innate lymphoid cells (ILC3s) are essential for host defense against infection and tissue homeostasis. However, their role in the development of HCC has not been adequately confirmed. In this study, we investigated the immunomodulatory role of short‐chain fatty acids (SCFAs) derived from intestinal microbiota in ILC3

Impact of the treatment of pancreatic exocrine insufficiency on survival of patients with unresectable pancreatic cancer: a retrospective analysis

open access: yesBMC Cancer, 2018
Background Malnutrition and weight loss are commonly observed in patients with pancreatic cancer and contribute to poor survival. Pancreatic exocrine insufficiency (PEI), which can be caused by ductal obstruction by a tumor, causes maldigestion and ...
