Treatment failure in celiac disease due to coexistent exocrine pancreatic insufficiency

open access: yes, 1987
A 17-year-old white adolescent had a history of chronic diarrhea, delayed puberty, and growth failure. Investigations excluded cystic fibrosis, Shwachman syndrome, and endocrine causes of growth failure.

Engineering a 660 nm‐Responsive Optogenetic Inducer of Pyroptosis for Precision Cancer Therapy

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This study reports a bioorthogonal pyroptosis inducer, PyroRACS. By using a red‐light‐responsive Cre‐On genetic switch to control the expression of highly cytotoxic GSDMDNT, PyroRACS enables the artificial induction of pyroptosis with precise spatiotemporal control.

Diabetes and the risk of pancreatic cancer.

open access: yes, 1994
BACKGROUND: Diabetes and pancreatic cancer are known to be associated, but the cause of the association and whether diabetes is a risk factor for pancreatic cancer remain controversial.

Computation and Structure‐Guided Arginine Scanning Engineers a Hyperactive AP Endonuclease for Multiplex Viral RNA Sensing

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Computational and structure‐guided arginine scanning rewires the DNA‐binding interface of APE1 to create APE1‐Evo, a hyperactive yet specific AP endonuclease. Integrated into the NAPTUNE‐V2.0 cascade, APE1‐Evo enables amplification‐free, multiplex viral RNA sensing for dengue virus and influenza A/B, highlighting a general strategy for engineering ...

Etiology, diagnosis, and management of chronic pancreatitis associated primary complications: a narrative review

open access: yesFrontiers in Medicine
Chronic pancreatitis is a progressive inflammatory disease, whose hallmark pathological feature is an irreversible fibrosis process. This process further leads to irreversible structural damage, pancreatic functional decline, and a variety of severe ...

RGS16 Aggravates Hepatic Ischemia‐Reperfusion Injury via Hepatocyte‐Intrinsic Apoptosis/Inflammation & Neutrophil Recruitment/NETosis

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
RGS16 competitively interferes with the YTHDF3–PAN3 complex to prevent CXCL1 mRNA decay during hepatic ischemia‐reperfusion injury. Stabilized CXCL1 strengthens hepatocyte injury, neutrophil recruitment, and NET‐associated inflammation, uncovering how stress‐induced RGS16 converts post‐transcriptional regulation into immune‐mediated liver damage ...

A Single‐Amino‐Acid Ligand for LAT1: A Minimalist and Modular Platform for Lysosome‐Targeted Degradation of Membrane Proteins

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
LA‐LYTAC repurposes the cancer‐enriched amino acid transporter LAT1 as a lysosomal trafficking receptor for targeted membrane‐protein degradation. A single phenylalanine‐derived ligand, modularly linked to antibodies or small‐molecule binders, recruits PD‐L1, EGFR, or integrins to LAT1, triggering transporter‐mediated internalization, lysosomal ...
